Shelter-in-place Guideline


The department is consulting on a draft Shelter-in-place Guideline so that, once finalised, there will be clear and consistent guidance for the community, councils and consent authorities about when shelter-in-place can be used as an alternative to evacuation off-site/out of the floodplain.

This guideline outlines considerations for council development control plans and development approvals.

The draft guideline is on exhibition for public comment until 14 February 2023. Your feedback to the exhibition will help inform the final guideline.
