For each window, select the relevant floor covering immediately below. The avaialble selections are:
Carpet
Ceramic Tile
Cork
Floating Timber
Other Hard surface (such as stone, mosaic etc.)
Other Soft surface (such as rubber, foam etc.)
Polished Concrete
Vinyl Tile
If you have any other hard floor covering which is not available, select Other hard surface. Select Other Soft surface for any other type of soft floor covering.
Floor coverings affect the ability of a slab floor in contact with the ground to store solar heat gain from windows. Floor coverings with high thermal mass such as ceramic tiles, or floor coverings with low thermal resistance such as vinyl allow more solar heat gain from windows to be stored in the slab floor to reduce cooling in summer and heating in winter.
