IHAP Quarterly Report

Under these requirements, councils in Greater Sydney and Wollongong are to provide quarterly data reports to the Secretary of Planning.

The Department is collecting data on the performance of Independent Hearing and Assessment Panels (known as Local Planning Panels under the Environmental Planning and Assessment Act 1979) for Greater Sydney and Wollongong, as per the Secretary's Requirements under section 2.20(6) of the Act.

Under these requirements, councils in Greater Sydney and Wollongong are to provide quarterly data reports to the Secretary of Planning. This data will provide ongoing feedback on the operation of panels and will be used to monitor and assess panel performance and any impacts on the planning system.

Councils are required to complete their first report by the end of June 2018, and by the last calendar day of each calendar quarter.

All panel meetings held in a calendar month are to be included in the report. Councils can submit data about meetings on a monthly-basis, or quarterly, depending on each council's operational practices. For the last month of each calendar quarter, councils will be prompted to provide additional  data about issues planning proposals, code of conduct complaints and appeals.

Councils are to complete quarterly data reports through the Independent Hearing and Assessment Panel web form. Guidance on filling out this form can be found in the LPP Online Reporting User Guide.
