Like all ratepayers I have spoken to, we believe the pipeline will be an unnecessary, costly and ongoing financial burden. Encouraging water efficiency and supporting water saving initiatives and storm water harvesting is my preference.

This pipeline will destroy unique habitats and endanger species there has to be another way. The research was flawed please look at this again and stop it going ahead .

This application requires far more scientific researech into the affects that it will have on this wonderful waterway. This waterway needs to be looked after for the future of all Australians and should NOT BE piped to supply water to a town that has plenty of water available to it. Just look at the mess the Murray river is in through the taking of water.

i believe that this pipeline would be detremental to the communities down river of the propsed site. as many commnities rely on the macquarie as there ONLY source of water let alone be a back up supply if Oranges 2 dams run low. As a keen angler it would have a huge impact on the river system for those who are catch and release anglers. for my whole life i have had the priviledge to camp and fish this beautiful river with my parents and now i am doing it with my children. would be a great waste to see it decline for the purposes of a city council to sell there catchment supply to the mines in there area

I cant believe the arrogance of Orange city council. Is it our fault (the people of the macquarie) that Orange has no river? The whole river will be negatively affected. The rare and 'protected' trout cod and platypus arent worth saving obviously..As for the comment by someone how said "find somewhere else to fish",how about Orange residents find somewhere else to live! if they dont have enough water.!Reminds me of afew years back when O.C.C wanted to truck theIr rubbish to Dubbo to be put in our landfills. What has Orange ever done for Dubbo? This is a total disgrace and frankly it is not Dubbos problem..KEEP YOUR STINKIN HANDS OFF OUR RIVER........

Leave the macquarie river alone, if the orange council had foresight some time ago they vould have raised the suma park dam wall, which is something they can still do. Orange city council is also over developing and then worrying about the associated infrastructure later on.

You've got to be joking!!! Myself and my family regurally go camping, fishing & 4wdriving in that beautyful part of the country and you want to suck the guts out of it when the river needs all the water in times of low flows. It seems to me that Orange council is bowing down to the might and needs of Cadia Mine in regards to water allocation.

As a regular user of the Macquarie River and someone who grew up on the river in the proposed location of the pipline, I would like to say I am VERY strongly opposed to it. There is no way the river can handle this sort of abuse. There are definatley fish in this area, I have personally caught Murray Cod, Trout Cod, Golden Perch, Silver Perch and Catfish so anyone who suggests otherwise has no idea or vested interests. Please think about the people who depend on this river, not the pockets of cadia.

The Macquarie is a river under considerable stress.

To further stress the remnant fish populations, including threatened and protected species, at periods of low flow.... flies in the face of any environmental principles.

AN ABSOLUTE DISGRACE!

IN THIS DAY AND AGE WHERE OUR INLAND RIVERS ARE STRESSED ENOUGH BY OUR INTERVENTION, SOMEONE COMES UP WITH THIS.

PLEASE GIVE IT MORE THOUGHT AND LOOK FOR ALTERNATIVES.

After doing some of my own research into the proposal, I am against building the pipeline. Seems to be a few conflicts of interest here and that it is about dollars, not water supply. I am amazed this has even been proposed during this day and age of environmental concern. I realise I am not a local but but we do have to look after the environment as a whole, not just our own backyard. If perchance this is a backdoor deal to supply a mine with water, they can source it by other means, some mines here have no external water supply for six months during the dry season and they manage. All costs dollars though. Without seeming emotive, this proposal is just plain stupid or there is a hidden agenda somewhere.

Regards
Wayne Pickering.

I object to such a destructive plan. The Macquarie river is a place of native fish refuge.

The pipeline will destroy what this wonderful river has to offer!

I do not believe sufficient information has been gathered about the environmental impact of removing water from the Macquarie, particularly at such vulnerable times as a drought would produce.

the pipeline must not go ahead.History shows that the river battles to sustain its habitat, pumping large amounts of water will kill this river.

My Dad has taken me fishing down the Bridle Track area of the river all my life. I would like to be able to do the same with my kids in the future. If the pipeline goes in there will be no fish and no river.

To Whom It May Concern,

I'm writing to express my absolute horror at the Macquarie river to Orange pipeline proposal. This stretch of river is not only crucially important to preserve numerous endangered fish species such as the Trout Cod, (the recovery plan of which you have failed to even acknowledge in your EA) it holds a high cultural value for a community who are also voters in the Orange City Council district.

It deserves nothing less than the full protection of Orange City Council & the wanton degradation of this habitat when other viable solutions are available is disgusting.

This proposal will have a severely negative impact on fish passage, wildlife passages, soil stability as well as having notable cultural & community impacts.

I urge you to reconsider this poorly thought out proposal.

"We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children"

Would you rather fish & camp with your children? Or show them the pipeline where the endangered fish 'used to live' before your members made the conscious decision to destroy their habitat.

Thankyou for your time & I hope that you make the right decision.

The Macquarie river to Orange pipeline should not go ahead and should not be justified for many reasons. The pipeline is designed to supply a very large amount of water, much higher than any usage before in Orange.
The proposed extraction will have a detrimental and lasting affect on important habitat values, endangered species such as the Trout Cod and threatened species such as the Catfish, Murray Cod and the Silver Perch.
Not only will this passage disrupt fish passages but also road side vegetation which provides valuable wildlife corridors and habitats. The pipeline route will too disturb the highly unstable soil structures, making mud slides into the river more likely.
There is a more sustainable method of developing a water supply. A regional water supply solution that services more than just the needs of Orange. For this they will need a federal government grant and to ensure that the supply solution is carried out in an ecologically sustainable manner. Otherwise, once again we are going to do irreparable damage to an extremely valuable eco-system with a high chance of native species becoming locally extinct.

I am opposed to the Macquarie River to Orange pipeline project.

The upper Macquarie River is significant habitat for the nationally endangered Trout Cod. Other threatened fish species found in this river reach include Murray Cod, Silver Perch and Catfish.
The pipeline route will destroy good condition roadside vegetation that provides important wildlife corridors and habitat in a highly cleared landscape.
