I'm a resident of Moorebank and have been so the majority of my life. Most recently in 2010 we decided to build our dream home Moorebank (Georges Fair).

Having grown up in Moorebank, I have seen signfiicant change occur in the last 40 years. In particular, the creation of signfiicant residential homes in and around Liverpool such as Georges Fair, Wattle Grove, development and enhancement of Holsworthy, Pleasure Point - these are suburbs within direct access to Heathcote Rd/M5 - a potentially significant thorough fare that will be crippled if this intermodal goes ahead.

Importantly, the proposed intermodal continuously fails to acknowledge that the site is at and around residential areas. It is not solely located in former Army land/industrial and will therefore impact the lives of thousands of residents as follows:
Traffic: The local Liverpool road network is near capacity, yet the intermodals call for an additional 10,000 truck and 5,700 car movements to come into the area daily, and nothing has been advised on how this will be achieved, with the exception of Moorebank Avenue to be widened to four lanes, but not till 2029/2013. A traffic study carried out on behalf of our community shows 32 road intersection that require major upgrades costing in the vicinity of $2.9 billion dollars, yet we have been unable to get an answer on who is responsible to finance and carry out the required upgrades. If this goes ahead as a private development, the taxpayers shouldn't be expected to pick up the cost. My personal opinion is that there is no intention to upgrade the road system, and it will be a wait and see situation, which is totally unacceptable.

Noise: Another area that we have been unable to have addressed is how will the proponents mitigate the noise level created by the facilities operation, to ensure that those people living in the suburbs that surround the sites, aren't exposed to noise levels that cause sleep disturbance. Our concern is based on the fact that people living within the a radius of 3 kilometres of the Port Botany container terminal are currently suffering sleep disturbance, yet the fact that there are thousands of people living as close as 400 to 1,000 metres from the proposed Moorebank sites has been totally ignored.

Air Quality: It is well know that Liverpool area is one of the most polluted areas in Sydney. This is qualified in a statement made in the PAC/ SIMTA determination has already shown that PM 2.5 levels in the local area are close to or above the advisory criteria, yet the proponents intend to bring thousands of diesel powered trucks and ancient locomotives into the area on a daily basis. The emissions created by this type equipment is carcinogenic and the same category as asbestos. The proponents again ignore this concern. Liverpool is also home to one of Sydneys largest and well respected Retirement Villages - the impact to airquality is determental in the short and long term for many.

Wattle Grove/Moorebank is not a suitable site. LCC have recently recommended that the site be located at Badgery's Creek away from homes.

Let's think sustainable. Our decisions today need not only think of the immediate economic impact but long term econmic impact and have equal weightin to social and environmental. This submission does not. It is selfish and ignorant.

Dear Sir

At the end of the day, no matter whatever I say, the proposal could be approved or not. Let us come to reality. After the plant is constructed, nothing is going to happen. But if you look at what is happening now, you can see for a fact what is happening now on the brickmakers drive during peak hours. You can also see trailers using that road when they are prohibited from using it

So could some one please explain who is monitoring the rules inspite of having a truck tonne limit for this road. In this case the residents are made to suffer.

Thanks

The South Western areas of Sydney are home to thousands of families who are the lifeblood of any community. The put a massive operation such as the intermodal on prime river front real estate so close to private homes is short sighted and unfair.
The river bank areas should be nurtured and protected so that they can be enjoyed by everyone for hundreds of years to come, not used for massive industrial projects.
The roads in this area are already over congested and adding thousands of truck movements to the area will simply make that much worse, as well as negatively impacting air quality for those of us who have made our lives here.

Projects such as the intermodal need to be planned with vision for the future.
Badgerys Creek is a much better area for this proposal as it can then be given a far longer life as it is incorporated in to the airport development planned for that region.
There is also a much larger available area there that can be better utilised, and a facility with greater access and growth potential can be realised.

Please consider this submission in your consultations and find against building the intermodal in Moorebank.

Thank you

Work on raad infrastructure around the area is barely keeping pace with current requirements and a lot more work will be needed (widening M5 even further etc) just to handle the normal growth in traffic (assuming that the intermodal introduces no new road traffic whatsoever).

What plans are there for starting on the further infrastructure needed in order for the introduction of the intermodal to not convert the surrounding area into a car park - such as by trying to fit 6 lanes worth of M5 traffic into 3 lanes (assuming that there is an intention for truck access to the intermodal - something not currently provided for in the existing plans).

Also with the intermodal so far from the new airport (which is where much of the freight will need to go), what plans are there for the construction of a motorway with at least two lanes each way so that the trucks carting the freight from the intermodal tot he airport will have a way to get there?

We should decide who comes to our suburb. Residents have spent thousands of dollars to buy into an areas. The land use when they buy in should remain the same, not changed to be industrial or flats or 10,000 truck movements. The Hume Highway is already a congested mess and dangerous. The intermodal could go outside Sydney like Mittagong where it would not harm the environment or add to congestion . The area designated should be left as open parkland. It would then be an asset to Liverpool

I object to the proposed project of Moorebank Intermodal.
The project proposed location is generally very close to residential areas, which in turn will heavy affect the environment and also will affect the residents' health and quality of living.
The project will bring to the area a lot of pollution caused by trains, trucks, and cars etc...
The pollution brought by the project will include air pollution, noise, vibration, and traffic congestion.
I tend to believe that the proposed project has put financial and economic factors above the welfare of citizens and above the environment.

I and my family wish to strongly object to the proposed Intermodal Terminal Stage 1 being located at the eastern side of Moorebank Avenue on the following points. I have lived in Chipping Norton for over 42 years and have closely followed all development activities in the surrounding area including residential, industrial, commercial and retail developments.
I have also followed the increasing movement of traffic through the Liverpool City wide road network.
As with many other areas in the wider Sydney basin the major ( and minor ) road networks have reached full capacity as most planners would accept.
This proposed development would inflict major increase in heavy vehicles on all roads in the municipality, especially during peak hours and it would be expected that many oft these heavy vehicles would utilise minor suburban roads to rat run to avoid congestion, passing many local schools on the way to their destinations with the possibility of a significant increase in traffic/pedestrian accidents.
I believe there is other more suitable locations for this proposed development and strongly urge the department and the state government to relocate this development to a more suitable location.

I travel an hour to work daily on M5 via Moorebank Avenue. If this proposal is to go ahead, I believe my travel time is going to increase, my house value will decrease and air quality around the area will be affected. Overall this proposal is going to affect the quality of my life. I know there has been a lot of objections to this proposal and still if this is going ahead, it means the government doesn't care. I should relocate.

I strongly urge the SIMTA to reconsider their building of the Intermodal Freight Facility at Moorebank, Liverpool, which was approved by the Federal Government this morning. The community's opposition to the project, which is based upon their concern with the social and environmental issues surrounding the facility's operation, is well publicised and should be heeded.

I would like to lodge my objection to the establishment of the Moorebank Intermodal Terminal for the following reasons:

- The noise and congestion from the truck traffic
- The affect on air quality due to all the additional trucks, and the potential impact on the cleanliness of the Georges River
- The impact of freight trains on the future of the Casula Powerhouse Arts Centre
- The impact on the people using the M5 and other local roads on a daily basis, particularly the work commuters.

We don't want this in our area!

How can this major development be put in a RESIDENTIAL area. This is appauling !!! How can the additional noise, pollution and traffic conjestion even be considered for such a highly populated area.
This type of development proposal should only have been considered in an INDUSTRIAL area - NEVER a RESIDENTIAL AREA.

This is not right the moorebank intermodal shouldn't be in moorebank there are so many other areas with massive land out there where they can develop this project not close to residents
The city of Liverpool is a residential area , family , kids , grandparents , schools , parks , rivers , there's a lot of nice places to visit in Liverpool and especially in moorebank area this will impact thousands of families and their homes ,
Why can't the government understand this
We do need this intermodal but in the correct location ,
Not moorebank
Moorebank is Where people and a lot of young families
Have just bought and constructed their new homes eg Georges fair
I myself and my family have built our dream
Home in Georges fair in moorebank and we love it
There
We haven't moved in yet and all I have been hearing about Moorebank with the recycling plant and the intermodal
All bad points nothing good
If I knew this over a year ago I would stay clear of moorebank
I have heaps of family and friends in moorebank and surrounding areas and I fell in love with this place that why I sold my old place and bought land in Georges fair
All this can't be good
Take your time and think about the life's you have in your hand and the choices you will make that will impact them badly in the long run

It amazes me that a handful of protestors can stopcruise liners from docking overnight at Balmain due to pollution. One ship per night, how awful!
Yet Moorebank will be polluted 24 hrs per day, by trucks, in already the worst polluted corridor in Sydney!
This along with traffic congested roads.
Is the Government looking after the good of the people or an easy way out to please other electorates?

I object to the proposal due to the noise and pollution to the environment & the extra congestion on the roads. The south west residential area is a rapidly growing area and this project will impact the entire region in a negative manner. Commuters are already struggling with existing conditions and this will only worsen the M5 and surrounding roads, pollute the air and impact Georges River and local waterways and parklands and entire neighbourhoods.

the roads in our area can not cope with anymore traffic or pollution. It is already an extremely busy area due to the M5 being a useless carpark. Our arterial road are already clogged with traffic, adding more will are the area dangerous for our health and future. We already get a layer of pollution all over our homes and cars. You wish to add to this without consultation or consideration for the families. Our roads already are in disrepair and dangerous now you wish to add more traffic. Nuwarra road, Heathcote Rd, Moorebank Ave & Newbridge Rd can not cope with more truck, their residents already suffer from the thunder of excess trucks and traffic now you wish to add to this with more vehicles and pollution. Out past Elizabeth drive there is an abundance of open land, less built up than this area. Much more suited considering the access to freeways and arterial road not surrounded by homes and schools. It's not on and was not considered when planed. People that live here deserve the consideration and you have not done this. But it's not your back yard so you don't care right?

I HAVE WORKED IN THIS INDUSTRY FOR OVER 20 YEARS AND LIVED IN MY HOME WHICH I PURHCASED 15 YEARS AGO. I PURCHASED A HOME IN THE SOUTH WEST SYDNEY TO GET AWAY FROM THE TRAFFIC AND CONGESTION THAT I HAVE TO DEAL WITH IN ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS AS I CURRENTLY WORK IN ALEXANDRIA AND I AM SICK OF TRAVELLING FOR 3-4 HOURS DAILY BECAUSE OF THE CURRENT CONGESTION WITHOUT ADDING MORE HUNDREDS OF THOUSANDS OF TRUCKS WITH CONTAINERS ON THEM. THE HEALTH AND WELLBEING OF MYSELF AND MY FAMILY FAR OUTWAY THE EMPLOYMENT OPPORTUNITIES THAT YOU ARE CLAIMING WILL BE AVAILBLE ON THIS PREMISE. AS THIS INDUSTRY IS GETTING MORE COMPETITIVE THERE ARE LESS AND LESS PEOPLE BEING EMPLOYED AS THE WORK IS BEING DONE BY THE EXISTING EMPLOYEES. KEEP OUR SOUTH WEST SYDNEY CLEAN AND AWAY FROM THE POLLUTANTS I SEE ON A DAY TO DAY BASIS WHERE THE TERMINALS ALREADY ARE IN BOTANY AND THE CONGESTION THAT IS OCCURING THERE WITH ALL PEOPLE HAVING TO PUT UP WITH THIS IN OUR SUPPOSED TO BE COUNTRY LIVING ENVIRONMENT FULL OF CLEAN AIR AND CONGESTION FREE. SICK OF THE GOVERMENT AND BIG INDUSTRY NOT LISTENING TO THE PEOPLE THAT PAY TAXES AND HAVE TO PUT UP WITH THIS NONSENSE.

Dear Sir/Madam

As a resident of the Liverpool area I am writing to you to voice, in the strongest possible terms, my and my Family's opposition to the Intermodal being built at Moorebank.

The negative impact to my Family of this development is larger than any other development in the vicinity by orders of magnitude.

I therefore strongly support Liverpool Council's position and recommendation for the terminal to be built at Badgery's Creek.

Should you have any questions or queries about my position please do not hesitate to contact me.

I strongly oppose the building / opening of an Intermodol
in my area .
As live on the edge of the M5 I can contest to the pollution we already have in suburbs.
The pollution which will occur if this project is pushed through will be divistating, creating more dust, diesel pollution and unnecessary noise from semi trailers.
Noise pollution from the M5 is bad enough.

Noise pollution from the M5 is bad enough. Why can't the vacant propery at the Crossroads not be used.It was proposed as terminal many years ago ? and it's on the junction of the M7and M5. !!!!
