I believe that the project will provide a much needed boost to local employment and upskilling of people in the area. Having visited the area many times and both interested in its beautiful environment and its warm local community, I would like to see this project go ahead particularly as it is run by an Australian company. I feel that the Bowdens' silver project will not only increase employment prospects for rural youth in the area but its committed use of local businesses and suppliers has, and will grow the local economy considerably.

the project represents great economic benefits for the region, NSW and Australia. I feel comfortable the company (Silver Mines Ltd) demonstrates best practice ESG responsibilities, which is my primary criteria for support.

Looking at the minerals that SVL sits on top of and has not yet mined, added to the historical significance of silver's role in times of economic downturn in conjunction with gold - combined with the mining of an alloy essential for medical manufacturing and industrial (economic) output appears vital for Australia now more than ever.

The Bowden's Project is a significant mineral resource project development. Such projects are the basis for much of Australia's wealth by the receipt of foreign currency, royalties to the state, local job creation in a depressed rural area and increased shire rates. The project will utilise poor, highly degraded agricultural land that has been consolidated into a meaningful area. Strict environmental studies over many years has resulted in a strong management plan which includes the high value use of waste water from a coal mine in the Hunter Valley.

Since following the progress of the Bowdens Silver project for several years, I have become a great supporter. As the project comes to life, I believe it will positively impact local, state and national outcomes.
In a time where the world is vastly living in economic uncertainty, groups and commercial ventures willing to put so much time, effort and investment to launch such projects should be welcomed and commended.
The surrounding and local areas will benefit from employment and organic economic growth.
Once the project is active, increased proceeds would feed into the Government via the company and individual tax revenue. The mined resources will then ultimately become an exportable commodity for our country and assist in driving our nation to more prosperity.
Silver is a limited resource on the globe with the risk for a shortage due to decreased production and increasing industrial and commercial uses, not to mention the investment case for silver bullion.
It would be a significant step in the right direction (at particularly the right time) to get the project underway.

As a person who grew up at Havilah, just to the west of Lue, I strongly protest the Bowdens Silver Mine near Lue. This mine serves as a short-term economic gain for a small few people and leaves a whole community with potentially devastating environmental impacts forever. We live in a beautiful part of the world and to have such vibrant and tourism and agricltural industries put at risk because of the Silver Mine seems incredibly short-sighted by the regulating bodies. As a man who in the near future will be bringing a young family back to the country and living downstream of the mine, I am concerned also at the negative health effects the dust and water pollution will have on my young children. What a shame for this mine to go ahead so faceless corporates can fill their pockets at the expense of our land, our health and our livelihoods. I urge you to reconsider this proposal by Bowdens and look to the long-term prosperity of the Mudgee region. Farmland is being destroyed every day, we need to preserve every spuare metre we can to ensure the health and wellbeing of our economy and the ability to do our part to feed the world. Should the Silver Mine go ahead, it will devastate our small, tight-knit community and the wider Mudgee region, potentially destroying vast areas of farmland and ruining our burgeoning tourism industry. Mining has been great for the Mudgee region and has bought incredible wealth, however a small Silver mine in such a sensitive area with huge, long-lasting negative impacts seems to be an irrational decision.

I hope you consider all our submissions and imagine if you were in the same boat, everything you ever owned could be ruined for short-term gain of a few people you will never see or meet.

kind regards,

Richie Inglis

Having been a mine manager (currently mine consultant) most of my 40 year career latterly 8 years with Rio Tinto, I'm impressed with the thoroughness of the EIS submitted to the department (which has been a long time coming). The Bowden opportunity has strategic importance to the mining industry, local community and Australia as a whole having a world renowned undeveloped silver resource. The time is now to progress this development as fundamentals for silver as an industrial metal along with financial hedge precious metal outlook being very positive given the global economic challenges ahead. Primary silver production start up is extremely rare with the majority of global silver as a by product of copper and zinc. Production at Bowden can take advantage of predicated silver shortages and the inevitable price increase ahead providing significant revenue streams for all stakeholders further supporting Australia as a leading supplier of mined commodities.

- With the country likely to go back into its second lockdown period as of today(Victoria already there), due to the CV19 Pandemic. This is a significant project that without question will be creating Australian jobs when most needed. As the country rides a wave of economic uncertainly and peoples lively hoods under threat, this project is a 'no brainer'.
- Local - As with any significant project, such as a silver mine, the effect it has not only on the immediate and obvious who are involved. But its the wider communities that see the benefits long term. This may not bee seen now, but a significant project such as this has real upside for these 'outskirt' communities who are most in need and potentially could almost rely on a project such as this going ahead.
- A silver mine such is this certainly required. How can you prevent the progress of this valuable resource. The use of it in certain medicines, potential healing products and simple wound dressings. Possibilities in this industry are endless, not only from a research perspective, but international trade also. Something that will make this make this country great again.
- just to reiterate on employment. Construction will see 300+ roles for locals. This is something that is required to go ahead.

My name is Debbie De Groot. Me and my family of four have a farm in the area around Lue. I want to thank you for giving me the opportunity to have my say about this project.
I object to this proposal.
This mine is very close to where people have their home. We are talking about a mine with hard metals damaging to people’s health. Its is not fair to put people in a situation where they have to choose between living in the property they love and face the very big consequences, or leave their home. The consequences are lengthy: health issues, noise issues, traffic and loss of beauty of the lovely environment to name a few.
This mine is undoubtedly in the wrong place. There is a school at only 2km from this poisonous mine. There is a small town called Lue, but a very much alive and close community only 2km from this open cut mine. Trucks will go through the lovely town of Mudgee and pass schools packed with lead. You can not do this to people and jeopardise health for money. Everyone deserves better. I would think that the health issues we are facing now would make that point clear.
The impact on the environment is huge and the land will never recover from this violent act of human power. People in charge of the mine may say they will rehabilitate some of it. Some of it, is just not good enough. But lets be honest, even if they would rehabilitate the whole site , It is impossible not to leave garbage, poison, and simply, a mess behind. You can not rehabilitate land to what is was before the major destruction done to it.
I do not think the short term financial benefits justify the damage to the environment and the long term health risks of many people in our community. Allow me to ask you a question. Would you put your child in a school with a lead mine only two km away, and/or would you continue to live in the home you love with a lead mine nearby?

Public Submission for Bowdens Silver Development

Dear Sir or Madam,
This submission is in favour of granting the application SSD 5765.
The reasons being that if everything is in accordance with the law and no negative impact on the planet it will be beneficial for a lot of people.

I have shares a small number of shares in Silvermines Ltd for over 5 years and I believe it will benefit the community by creating jobs, not only the people working in the mines but also the wider community because the money will be spend locally.
As long as it is done according to the law and morally right, permission should be granted.
In times like this with high unemployment and low incomes everything should be done to A: minimise damage to the earth, B: give people a good salary and C: often the larger companies supporting local social clubs , like football, soccer and other sports and events.

I OBJECT to the Bowdens Silver Mine proposal.
I declare I have have not made a reportable political donation in the previous 2 years.
The reasons why I object to this proposal are

1. My family operates a farm four kilometres downstream of the proposed mine on the Lawson Creek. We have farmed this country for five generations, producing fine wool, beef and fat lambs. We rely on Lawson Creek for all our stock and domestic water as we have a five kilometre frontage to the Lawson Creek.

2. This mine will use a lot of water. It will take groundwater from the Lawson Creek catchment, 5 megalitres every day which is not available in our catchment. After mining begins, the level of water in the Creek will drop by one metre which will mean in dry times we will have no water.

3. Bowdens proposes to take more water from the Lawson Creek catchment than all the existing Lawson water users. What will this do to our water supply?

4. Groundwater will be severely affected with the level on the mine site dropping by 25 metres threatening bores.

5. The tailings dam will be in our landscape forever sitting in the Lawson Creek catchment and these dams are particularly susceptible to breaching and the resulting environmental disaster. This mine poses a serious threat to our environment.

6. Tailings dams fail during significant rain events. We have rain records showing 225 mls overnight in February 2002 which caused major destruction in the Lawson Creek catchment. We regularly have large floods in Lawson Creek which dissipate very quickly. Bowdens would be subject to the same variations and suffer the consequences of extreme rain events.

The towns of Lue and Rylstone were both established in the nineteenth century based on farming enterprise which still thrives growing some of the best Beef, Lamb and Wool in the state not to mention the ever-flourishing Grape growing and wine making venues.
They have developed into peacefully quiet and charming country hamlets frequented by a large and welcome number of tourists who enjoy the tranquil surroundings as well as quiet country roads and highways.
The businesses in these towns are comfortably financed by the requirements of the farming and tourist industries and have survived Drought, Bush Fires and even Covid Virus.
The Tourist industry will not survive the bedlam of the Bowden Virus.
If the NSW Government is to approve the Bowden Onslaught, they must ask themselves if they have budgeted for the necessary increase in Police, Schools, Medical Facilities, Sewerage, Water and many more utilities that we take for granted but will not be able to survive the onslaught of Bowdens employees.
The demise of our utilities is the price we would have to pay for the poor uniformed, uneducated protagonists who only have a vocabulary limited to the one word “JOBS”
Please do not destroy our towns by allowing a thief in our mouth who will steal our brain.

Bowdens Silver Project
I am Dean Knott and my family and I live at 2883 Lue Road, Lue (neighbouring property less than 2kms from the proposed pit).
I thank you for this opportunity to make a submission.
- I have had no consultation from any Bowden representative up to this point but I would welcome a conversation.....perhaps on my back verandah, looking at the view I am about to lose if the mine goes ahead.
- I am very concerned about the potential decrease in the value of my property, my family and I have no wish to reside anywhere near a mine site and will be forced to sell up and move from what has been our family home for 11 years.
- Extremely concerned about the health ramifications from the lead, zinc and cyanide dust. I believe being less than 2kms from the pit that the control measures in the EIS will not be sufficient to stop dust settling on my roof, in my paddocks and contaminating my water supply. Not being on town water supply means this is the water I rely on for myself, my family and the stock on my property.
- I have a bore on my property for household and stock use which has never been tested by Bowdens and I am concerned the mine will suck the water table dry.
- Will be severely impacted by the noise and dust from workings at the mine and increased traffic on the road.
- The safety of my family and friends is at risk with the increased volume of B-Double trucks and the like transporting the mined materials on a road which is currently not suitable for the increased size and weight of the vehicles.

Thank you again for the opportunity to make a submission.
Regards,
Dean Knott

I am of the opinion that this is a worthwhile project for our region. I see many benefits both short and long term including the continued growth of our community and businesses in our region.
Employment is vital to the continued prosperity of all, particularly the youth of our region. The continued support to our local industries will be welcomed.
It is great to note that apprenticeships and trainee-ships will be available on this project as this is something that is particularly lacking not only in our region, but our country.
I have to date been impressed with the Community support offered by Bowdens Silver and believe the community will benefit greatly from their continued support.
It will be great to see an updated road in that part of our region and will be an asset for continued tourism.
My only footnote is for Bowdens Silver to keep supporting the village of Lue and keep them safe.
