Dear whom it may concern,
As an employee (or relative of an employee) of Shoalhaven Starches, I strongly support the proposed Invincible Coal Mine - Southern Extension Project.
Shoalhaven Starches is a 100 per cent family-owned Australian production facility, in Bomaderry, south coast NSW. It is the largest wheat starch and gluten plant of its kind in the world operating the most advanced industry technology to extract value-added products from 100 per cent of the wheat grain, in conjunction with a world-first sustainable ethyl alcohol (ethanol) distillery.
Processing quality flour from three flour mills in the NSW wheat belt and from the onsite Nowra flour mill, Shoalhaven Starches supplies domestic and export markets with a range of gluten, starch, glucose, ethanol and stockfeed products crucial to a variety of industries from food, confectionery, brewing and building.
The New South Wales south coast is currently experiencing local industry and business closures of a number of large employers in the region and with high unemployment rates, above the nationÕs average Ð the Shoalhaven Starches plant is now the regionÕs largest private employer, employing around 300 directly on site and creating thousands of indirect jobs in industries from transport, food service, grain handling, engineering, maintenance and construction - viability of the Plant is critical to the region.
I understand that the primary objective of the Southern Extension Project is to provide certainty of supply of specialty nut coal to Shoalhaven Starches at a cost effective rate. Nut coal is vital to the sustainable operation of Shoalhaven Starches which fuels coal fired boilers generating a significant proportion of the PlantÕs process steam requirements.
A cost-effective and viable fuel source is imperative to the sustainability and long-term future of Shoalhaven Starches and the hundreds of direct and indirect local jobs that it creates.
It is vital that the Invincible Coal Mine (Southern Extension Project) is approved, not only for the employment and regional development in the Lithgow region, but for the long-term sustainability of industry and jobs at Shoalhaven Starches.
I strongly support the proposed Invincible Coal Mine - Southern Extension Project."

Dear whom it may concern,
As a local in the Lithgow or Cullen Bullen region, I strongly support the proposed Invincible Coal Mine - Southern Extension Project.
I believe that Castlereagh Coal has provided ample opportunity for stakeholder engagement since the purchase of Invincible Coal Mine in 2015 including through the project design and environmental phases. This consultation has included project newsletters, community information displays, community consultative committee presentations, one-on-one interviews with landholders and briefings to wider stakeholder groups.
Subject to approval, the revenue, expenditure and employment associated with the Southern Extension Project will stimulate economic and social activity in the Cullen Bullen, Lithgow, wider regional communities and the broader NSW economy.
My local region is currently experiencing the detrimental effects of closures (temporary and permanent) of a number of large employers in the region and the additional employment generated by the Southern Extension Project will have significant economic and social benefits to the region. These include employment of up to approximately 35 full-time equivalent employees and an increased population in the local area of 16 people.
The Project will also provide a net benefit of $8.77 million in NPV terms to the Lithgow-Mudgee local area consisting mainly as economic benefits of $4.85 million to employees and $4.15 million to suppliers located in the local area with indirect costs of $0.23 million.
Castlereagh Coal has taken a very considered, measured and balanced approach to its project taking into account the concerns of the local community and the issues raised in relation to the assessment of the proposals by previous owners of the mine.
I unreservedly support Castlereagh CoalÕs Invincible Coal Mine (Southern Extension Project) application, which will provide a significant economic and social boost to the area with a minimal mining footprint."
