I am writing in support of the Somersby Drill Mud and Oily Water Recycling Facility.
The proposal aims to offer a local solution for businesses to dispose of oily water and drill mud in an environmentally responsible way. By doing so, it will reduce transportation costs, directly benefiting local businesses and stimulating the local economy.
Additionally, the proposal will recover valuable soils, sands, and aggregates from the drill mud, which can be repurposed as fill material or for landscaping projects, offering a sustainable alternative to virgin materials sourced from outside the region.
By providing local, cost-effective recycling services for drill mud and oily water, the proposal will help businesses comply with environmental regulations in a more affordable manner.
The initiative is expected to produce up to 32 megalitres of recycled water annually, which will be suitable for reuse in various applications such as industrial processes, dust suppression on construction sites, and certain agricultural uses, reducing the demand on the Central Coast’s drinking water supply.
Once operational, the proposal is set to create 17 new full-time jobs, benefiting the local community directly.
The project is strategically located within the Somersby Industrial Park, ensuring no impact on the surrounding rural residential areas. Furthermore, it will be situated within an existing industrial site, preserving the area's high biodiversity and cultural heritage significance.
Thank you for considering my submission,

Key Benefits of the Proposal:
1. A Local, Environmentally Responsible Waste Management Solution
The facility will provide a local alternative for the disposal of drill mud and oily water, reducing the need for transportation which will significantly cut transport costs and lower emissions, benefiting both businesses and the environment.
2. Improved Resource Recovery and Circular Economy
The facility will recover soils, sands and aggregates from drill mud, which can be reused as fill material or in landscaping projects. This will help reduce reliance on virgin materials and promote sustainable construction practices.
3. Cost-Effective Compliance for Local Businesses
By offering affordable access to drill mud and oily water recycling services, the facility will help local businesses comply with environmental regulations in a more cost-effective way, ensuring responsible waste disposal.
4. Production of Recycled Water
The facility is expected to produce up to 32 megalitres of recycled water per year, which can be used for industrial processes, dust suppression on construction sites, and certain agricultural applications. This will reduce demand on the Central Coast’s drinking water supply, supporting more sustainable water use.
5. Job Creation and Economic Growth
The project is expected to create 17 new full-time jobs once operational, benefiting the local community. Additionally, it will generate broader economic benefits by supporting industries involved in construction, transport and waste management.
6. Strategic Location within an Industrial Zone
The proposed site within Somersby Industrial Park ensures the facility will operate in an appropriate setting, away from rural residential areas, minimising potential impacts on the community.
7. Minimal Environmental and Cultural Heritage Impact
As the facility will be located within an existing industrial site, it will avoid impacts on high biodiversity areas and culturally significant sites, ensuring responsible development in the region.
The Somersby Drill Mud and Oily Water Recycling Facility will bring economic, environmental and social benefits to the Central Coast by providing a local recycling solution, reducing transport costs, promoting sustainability and creating jobs.
For these reasons, I strongly support the approval of SSD-62863964 and encourage the Department to consider the positive impact this project will have on businesses and the community.

We as a team here at Wellmix Concrete Supplies Pty Ltd - Bathurst NSW 2795, strongly agree that a facility as such is an extraordinary benefit to the Central Coast Region.
Coming from a concrete manufacturing plant we understand the necessity to reduce waste and environmental impacts around us.
We use high amounts of sand/aggregates and water to produce the volume of concrete required to satisfy orders.
A facility as such is a great investment to the community as it reduces costs on local business who rely on sources as such that will be recycled from this plant. As we all know today's society is striving to become a 'greener' environment to sustain Earth's preciousness and this facility will be doing just this. Having this facility in arms reach for Concrete Plants, Landscapers, Civil Industries and Agricultural Fields e.tc will be convenient and cost effect for all parties.
In recent times wages and expenses have risen to astronomical lengths and having this facility close by for Central Coast Region businesses will imply that their running costs will be dramatically reduced having access to this site.
In saying this, the locals in the community have an opportunity to join such a innovative project, therefore reducing unemployment rates within the local community.
This helps locals have quicker access to their job, reducing travel costs and time on the road for employees who are working hard to make a living.
I admire the efforts of Lawsan Property Holdings Pty Ltd in making a big change like so to the local community and I wish them all the success in helping reduce waste and helping local business owners of the Central Coast Region to have access to an incredible facility.
