students about the importance of sustainability across all aspects of
daily life and the curriculum (as mandated by the federal government's
Australian Curriculum - Cross Curriculum Priorities), I want state and
federal governments to lead by example so that I can say to my

adults and policy makers, we're doing it.

strong action on clean energy to provide a safer, healthier future for
my children. This solar farm is a positive step in this direction and
appears to have little potential negative impact.

1. It will make energy available to consumers sooner and more cheaply
than coal, gas or nuclear plants, so reducing financial strain on
consumers.
2. It will not be as ugly as emmission stacks, stockpiles of coal, gas
tanks, fuel dumps, workshops, emmission control and other supporting
infrastructure needed by coal, gas or nuclear.
3. It will be cheaper to construct than coal, gas or nuclear
facilities which need more land and on site supporting infrastructure.
4. It will have minimal impact on other users of existing
infrastructure such as roads &/or railways, during the construction
and operation, unlike coal, gas or nuclear facilities.
5. It will provide employment immediately therefore contributing to
the economic security of the community.
6. It will not require vast quantities of water during its
construction and operation so reducing stress on our badly drought
affected community.
7. Unlike coal, gas and uranium power plants it -
(a) is not as susceptible to attack by saboteur or natural disasters
and easier to restore function, and
(b) will not produce toxic and environment damaging waste.
8. it will entail less risk of a local major pollution event.

We must quickly stop burning fossil fuels and move to renewable energy
Why not use the energy from the sun!
Solar farms of this scale are so much more efficient than the
proliferation of domestic installations.
I am not a resident of the area but am a frequent visitor, and to me
it seems to be an ideal location that very few could have any balanced

and industry-leading approach to sharing the benefits of the proposed
solar farm. Strategies for sharing the benefits of renewable energy
developments are important for integrating the development into the
community and for contributing meaningful and lasting value for the
local community. Based on our knowledge and experience in the sector,
we believe Springdale Solar Farm's
plans represents sector-leading benefit-sharing practice.
We are aware that the project in planning to create opportunities for
contractors and local employment, as well as training and
scholarships; creates opportunities for the community to co-invest in
the solar farm; and contribute $100,000 to a community fund.
About us:
Community Power Agency is a not-for-profit established to support
communities to participate in and benefit from the transition to clean
energy. Since 2011 we have worked with communities, governments and
companies to increase the benefits flowing to communities from
renewable energy projects. Examples include, supporting communities to
engage with renewable developers, helping the ACT Government assess
the community and social benefits of projects applying to their
reverse auction schemes and working with renewable developers to
design a community benefit sharing scheme. In 2017-18, we worked with
the Clean Energy Council to produce a comprehensive report of current
and best-practice community engagement and benefit sharing in the wind
industry, titled Enhancing Positive Social Outcomes from Wind
Development. Many of the findings from this report are transferable
and also provide insight into better solar development.

We can't afford not to support it.
It will also provide secure local employment.
The local area will be recognised as leading the evolution of clean

similar to building it next to cambelltown in sydney it would not
happen meaning no where to build for the next 30 years
it would be the same as 2 generations of children never able to build
or enjoy this rural lifestyle in this area
there should be a royal commission on who receives government
subsidies including ex politicians involved and the costs /profits
margins made public on these projects before these companies take the
money and run
there is plenty of taxpayers crown land out in more remote areas which
would be also suitable for this size project

developing the next generation of low carbon power. The solar farm
will bring jobs and opportunities to the local community. The site is
situated to blend in with the local community and will diversify the
NSW power system to be significantly more reliable and cheaper.

the coal-fired generation assets that currently power the NEM. To
replace the loss of this generation we need to implement the
least-cost generation assets to keep the cost of electricity
affordable for all consumers. Large-scale solar PV continues to be one
of the lowest-cost generation options in Australia.
Not only is Solar PV one of the lowest-cost options, it is also a
low-emission generation source. The National Electricity Objective
(NEO) considers the long term interests of consumers. While the NEO
does not include impact on the environment, the national electricity
system is nonetheless one aspect of the environment. With increasing
instances of heat waves threatening the operating limits of the
network and generation assets, addressing climate change can be
considered an integral part of fulfilling the NEO. On this basis,
utilising low-emissions generation sources is crucial to this end.
On the basis of these two needs - low-cost generation and
low-emissions generation - I support this project.
