BASIX Certificate Data 2011/12 to 2017/18

A BASIX (Building Sustainability Index) certificate must be lodged with the development application or complying development application for a new residential dwelling. A range of data about the proposed development, including size, location, design features and fixtures, is entered into the BASIX system for assessment against energy and water reduction targets and thermal comfort performance. The input data, choices made to meet BASIX requirements, and related data are stored in the BASIX database. Primary fields captured under the themes of dwelling characteristics, water, energy and thermal comfort related to the most recent version of BASIX certificates issued have been included in these data files. The data represents building intentions and emerging trends in residential housing. Data is revised annually and replaces earlier data releases.

The data is organised into three files: New Single Dwellings, New Multi Dwellings, and All New Certificates. The New Single Dwellings file contains data for new single dwelling certificates of any dwelling type except for units in residential flat buildings. Most, around 90%, are for separate houses. The New Multi Dwellings file contains data for certificates with more than one new dwelling, typically townhouses or residential flat buildings, though they may include detached houses. The All New Certificates file contains data for all new dwelling certificates.
