Westend Oval Multi Purposes Sports Precinct

The development forms part of the Griffith Regional Sports Precinct master plan.
− Westend Oval Sports Precinct including demolition of the existing Council depot, and removal of the existing cricket oval. Both components are to be relocated to alternative locations within the City of Griffith.
− Physical works will be undertaken in two stages with Stage 1 (being the funded stage) to include the following:
− 7 indoor Basketball courts (adaptable for Netball, Futsal, Volleyball, Gymnastics & Badminton). This comprises a new 5 court indoor stadium and a refurbished 2 court existing stadium.
− Retractable / permanent seating capable of seating 1000+ people. This is to be provided in the form of a new 500 seat retractable seating system for the new stadium, and a refurbishment of the existing tiered seating in the existing stadium.
− Ancillary Building as part of the new stadium that comprises change rooms / offices / meeting rooms / canteen / public amenities
− 7 new outdoor, all weather (asphalt) Netball courts including new lighting
− 1 outdoor, all weather Basketball half-court
− New synthetic, all weather Athletics track
− Provision of new field event activities for athletics programme
− New synthetic turf Hockey Pitch plus an additional grass Hockey Pitch
− New Grandstand including toilets, canteen and maintenance / storage facilities
− New parking areas with an on-site car park for 52 cars, landscaping and green space
− Stage 2 (being future works, subject to funding) to include the following:
− Additional building works to the ancillary area of the main stadium comprising increased size and capacity canteen/kitchen, function room, increased indoor & outdoor casual seating areas
− Provision of additional new field event activities for athletics programme
The construction period will run over a period of at least 12 months from early 2021 through until end of 2021 with construction activity to take place for up to 6 days per week between 7.00am and 7.00pm.
Extensive earthworks will be undertaken at the site.
