Population change is the result of three factors: births, deaths and migration

There are more births than deaths each year in NSW, resulting in natural increase for the population.

Natural change is the balance between births and deaths. When births outnumber deaths, this is called natural increase.

In NSW, natural increase has been a relatively stable net contributor to population growth.
