Part 5 Activities
Pedestrian Bridge - Macarthur Gardens North
Campbelltown
The new pedestrian bridge replaces the existing ramp access over Bow Bowing Creek and retains the connection from the north side of the Macarthur Station concourse. The bridge is required to support Landcom's vision for Macarthur Gardens North to create a connected, walkable community that is close to public transport, shops and educational facilities.
Some of the objectives considered, include:
* A suitably designed and accessible bridge for existing and anticipated future needs of the local community;
* Integration with the station arrival park / plaza;
* Community safety and surveillance features that comply with functional and operational requirements;
* Minimising impacts to the existing environment and during bridge construction.
The bridge will be 3.0m wide (internal) and provide a connection to the new street network, via stairs and a boardwalk within the Station Arrival Park, inclusive of a 1:20 grade that accommodates mobility-impaired users.
