Greyhound Straight Track

The proposal involves the following works:
• Construction of a straight greyhound racetrack, 8.8m wide, 300 metres in racing length, total length including catching pen, is approximately 375 metres. The start point is at the southern end of the track with the finish point at the northern end.
• Construction of a 7m wide road/pathway, approximately 410 metres in length, on the western side of the straight track.
• Relocation and realignment of the existing harness racing practice sand track to avoid conflict with greyhound racing and rodeo yard operations.
• Improvements to site stormwater management, including construction of stormwater works and a bio-retention basin at the southern end of the straight track.
• Removal of a concrete stair and bleacher structure and replacement with new access stairs along the eastern and northern elevations of the Grace Millsom building
• Construction of a new outdoor alfresco area with associated seating adjacent to the northern side of the Grace-Millsom Function Centre.
• Eight (8) new flood light poles adjacent to the straight track to allow for additional evening and night racing meets.
• Civil works, bulk earthworks, hydrology and utilities upgrade including the installation of specific equipment to support the operations of greyhound racing.
• New gravel access track to facilitate to the rodeo yards at the southern end of the straight track.
• Various landscaping works.
• Part relocation of Harness jogging track
