Section 96(2) for design changes to an approved Performing Arts Centre at an existiing educational establishgment
(Former) Sydney West Joint Regional Planning Panel
The Section 96(2) application has been lodged to modify an approved Performing Arts Centre at an existing educational establishment. The original Development Application was approved by the Sydney West Joint Regional Planning Panel on 3 May 2016. The approved Performing Arts Centre comprises a performance space with a seating capacity for 220 students, along with music rooms, change rooms, amenities and an open landscaped forecourt. Construction work on this development has not commenced.
The proposed modification involves the deletion of a large retaining wall on the southern side of the building that was to support the forecourt slab. The forecourt slab is now proposed to be suspended on columns and reduced in width, with alterations to the existing filled batter. These changes are proposed to reduce the construction costs associated with the large retaining wall. Other modifications proposed include alterations to landscaping and an increase in height of the development by 100mm to improve drainage. There is no change proposed to the capacity of the Performing Arts Centre or the internal layout of the building.
