The Department of Planning and Environment has updated the planning framework for certain aspects of environmental protection and management.
The proposed changes were exhibited for feedback between 31 October 2017 and 31 January 2018 in an Explanation of Intended Effect (EIE) for the planned Environment SEPP.
The department received feedback from a wide range of stakeholders which helped to refine and update the biodiversity and conservation planning policy.
The new framework starts on 21 November 2022. It simplifies the NSW planning system by consolidating and updating provisions in 7 former chapters of the State Environmental Planning Policy (Biodiversity and Conservation) 2021 (BC SEPP).
