The Sydney Plan

The NSW Government has finalised the Sydney Plan, providing the strategic land use guide for the growth of the Sydney region over the next 20 years. The final Plan reflects feedback received during public exhibition and establishes a coordinated approach to delivering housing, jobs, infrastructure, sustainability and liveable communities across Sydney.

The plan will guide:

  • state and local strategic planning and assessment processes
  • infrastructure planning and prioritisation
  • public and private investment decisions.

The draft Sydney Plan was exhibited from 10 December 2025 to 27 February 2026. Feedback received from the community, councils, industry and stakeholders helped inform the final Plan and its implementation priorities.

Some Sydney Plan submissions also included feedback on other documents being exhibited at the same time, including A New Approach to Strategic Planning - Discussion Paper and the Draft Statewide Policy for Industrial Lands. As these are separate consultation processes, the relevant feedback associated with those documents has been considered and reported on separately through the relevant policy consultation reports.
