Beryl Battery Energy Storage System

Lithium battery storage facilities have already proven themselves to be unsafe, with fires occurring in at least 2 of the 3 (that I am aware of) major battery storage units in Australia.
The developer cannot guarantee the long term safety of such a facility nor can they ensure that the public will not be adversely affected by the use of such a facility.

The alternative is to construct proven safe, effective, cost effective and environmentally sound Nuclear power generation plants. Neither Battery storage nor power grid extensions will be required if nuclear power is inserted to the existing grid. The laws restricting nuclear power use in Australia CAN and MUST be changed.

The Beryl Battery Energy Storage System (BESS) project, proposed for Gulgong, NSW, aims to store renewable energy generated by the adjacent Beryl Solar Farm, supporting grid reliability and addressing renewable energy intermittency. While the intention to support Australia's transition to renewable energy is commendable, a comprehensive analysis of the project reveals significant concerns regarding its environmental impact, compliance with legislative requirements, and potential threats to local communities, flora, and fauna.

Just more money being wasted and more noise and pollution

Are renewables the best way to generate electricity for Australians & the use of battery energy storage systems. With so many fires caused by lithium batteries there has to be a better way. Considering the wealth of natural resources in this country clean coal or nuclear energy must be considered over environmental destroying renewable energy sources

Beryl’s incapable Battery Energy Storage System is an extremely destructive, disingenuous plan with a contaminating lifecycle that is not one bit clean, green or sustainable.
Being weather dependent is useless, only ensuring it will never provide reliable, cheap power on demand.
Australians need far superior 24/7 Australian power with a minimal environmental footprint.

BERYL BESS is a totally objectional, parasitic, Environmentally Destructive, life threatening Fire Risk that is useless, weather dependent & a toxic contamination disaster - against the best interests of Australia.

Ugly Industrialised Battery Energy Storage hazards will NEVER provide reliable, affordable Australian power which is an essential service for the people of NSW.
Depending on the weather means they are flaky, a very silly idea & DON’T WORK most of the time.
This toxic contaminating plan DOES NOT belong on essential, irreplaceable Food growing land at all as irreversible environmental harm will inevitably occur & our children’s Energy Security & Food Security future will be ruined forever

I Object to Beryl BESS because:-
* It is destructive to native flora and fauna;
* Construction will leave a legacy of land destruction that is unlikely to be rectified by the builder;
* It is an abomination on the natural landscape
* It is part of a system that costs billions, does not work reliably and attempts to solve a problem that does not exist, in other words useless and irresponsible use of public funds;
* All such infrastructures should be built at developer’s expense, NOT on public funds, we are told wind, solar & BESS are the cheapest, well prove it, remove all subsidises do not build this system on public funds;
* The TOTAL cost has not been verified by independent experts, (refer to cost overruns of most projects.)
* There is NO verified scientific basis for reduction of CO2 in the atmosphere so this project is a total waste of public money, along with all other such projects.  There is in fact reliable verifiable scientific proof that CO2 is beneficial to plant life and by extension to human life on earth.

Beryl BESS is a dreadful plan - designed to create toxic fires, deprive Australian people of power, cost us a motzer & never be cleaned up.

The fact is that so called ‘renewables’ will not bring enough energy to supply ordinary Australians. They have not been proven to deliver continuous supply.

I am very unhappy that there is no opportunity for open debate on this destructive energy depriving venture that will change the life of all Australians.

The fact is energy costs will rise for ordinary, already struggling householders.

I OBJECT to Ratch’s horrible plan for a very contaminating & destructive Beryl BESS at Gulgong that will only work part-time & will create a massive pile of toxic waste that is ruining Australia.

Beryl BESS is part of the most obscene, non-sensical, ruinable plans for Australia, destroying our precious biodiversity & ecology, contaminating our essential Agricultural land & water supplies & seriously harming Australian people & our children’s future forever with toxic junk & energy deprivation.

Beryl BESS will not provide any reliable, affordable power at all. It is incapable storage, relying on the vagaries of the weather.

When the powers that be realise that we are living in the Nuclear age & wish to remain an advanced country, much of what is planned for the Central West & other districts will become obsolete.
The district will be stuck with the environmental vandalism caused by Government (taxpayer’s) heavily subsidised ‘renewable’ energy installations.

I object to the Beryl BESS project.

Lithium-ion batteries are a fire hazard as evidenced by the increasing number of battery fires around the world. They are difficult to extinguish and the toxic fumes will require multiple local residents (there are 28 residences within 2km of the proposed site) to be evacuated for their safety.

It is too close to existing residences and Gulgong township is only 6km away.

The cumulative effects of multiple projects in the area mean that Gulgong is already negatively affected by approved and operating solar and BESS projects in the area. Adding another project is an insult to the local population.
