Penalty Notices issued to Gear M Illawarra Met Coal Pty Ltd (DA60-03-2001) Wingecarribee Shire LGA
On 12 June 2026, the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (the Department) issued two (2) $15,000 Penalty Notices to Gear M Illawarra Met Coal Pty Ltd, as the operator of the Dendrobium Colliery for failing to comply with approved noise limits for the development. Noise limits were exceeded on multiple occasions on both 6 October 2025 and 14 November 2025. Since these noise limit exceedances, Gear M Illawarra Met Coal Pty Ltd has implemented a range of noise mitigation measures on site to reduce noise impacts on nearby sensitive receivers.

On 16 July 2026, the NSW Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (the Department) issued a $15,000 Penalty Notice to Gear M Illawarra Met Coal Pty Ltd, as the operator of the Dendrobium Colliery for failing to comply with the approved noise limit. The noise limit was exceeded on 20 May 2026 at monitoring location R6a. Since the noise limit exceedance, Gear M Illawarra Met Coal Pty Ltd has implemented noise mitigation measures on site to reduce noise impacts on nearby sensitive receivers.
