I object to the above as renewable energy is hazardous and will contaminate our regional environment and may catch fire and cause toxic smoke and asthma and asthma-like health hazards in that event.

I am concerned at the huge risk of Thermal runaway – if there are summer fires, they will go for miles and could cause bush-fires like the Black Friday fires.

Governments are asking for huge claims for PFAS contamination caused by the toxicity and leaching from infrastructure, and also the toxic smoke in a fire event. (This April 2025 Glasgow Scotland lithium recycling facility exploded for the second time and the toxicity is unbelievable – we are asking for similar reactions).

This is forcing our Electricity Prices UP, contrary to the lies we are being told. It is NOT better or CHEAPER than coal-fired base-load power by any stretch. This is also a national security issue when our services and assets are owned or controlled from offshore.

The site could be abandoned post-operation, leaving toxic waste behind it the end of use.
Will you provide a legally binding decommissioning plan including full land rehabilitation and timelines?

Battery breakdown during storms or fire could release heavy metals, will be a huge health risk.
How will you secure and weatherproof battery modules to prevent accidental environmental contamination?

There is no baseline PFAS testing required pre-construction. RE projects will be 99% responsible for the contamination.
Will you fund and publish independent pre-project testing of groundwater and topsoil for PFAS to create a reference point?

Microplastics from battery and cable casings can persist in soil and water for decades,
What filtration or material containment systems are in place to prevent leaching of microplastics into farmland?
When leached onto food producing farmland, how will this be cleaned up?

Regional NSW is being invaded by the "renewable energy" subsidy seekers. This is yet another company seeking to profit from this complex electricity generation the Government wants us to believe is environmental.

What is environmental about batteries? Litihium ion batteries have a short lifespan, lithium production is environmentally disasterous, no developer divulges the amount of diesel generators that must be used continuously in their project, no one counts the emission of transporting the components from other countries to Australia and lithium ion is not recycable on the scale that is being planned for NSW (or Australia).

We want abundant electricty that lowers our costs of living and allows us to run a business. Stop prioritising developers profits over NSW electricity consumers and tax payers. Stop destroying agicultural land. Stop destroying our environment.

This project is a waste of money and will generate unrecycable waste and use diesel generators for consistent operation given the unreliability of weather dependent generators.

BUT it will generate lots of money for the proponent as they game the electricity market and get paid to smooth out the electricity grid given the unreliable wind and solar already in the system (for 2 hours max)

How much slave labour/child labour will be used in the process to manufacture these lithium ion batteries?

How many emissions are there in the mining of the raw materials for these lithium ion batteries? Or don't we count that because that all takes place in another country?

No country in the world is building such a complex and expensive electricity system. Taxpayers and electricity consumers will suffer.

Stop wrecking our economy and our environment.

Stop spending taxpayers funds on BESS.

The only beneficiary here is the proponent.

All electricity consumers will pay huge prices for this gaming of the electricity market by these subsidy seekers.

Give us 24/7 electricity and make sure suppliers to that market can supply for longer than 5 minutes. If we had an abundant supply of reliable electricty we would have lower prices and we need electricity generators that have a life of 50 plus years.

How many diesel generators are backing up this project?

What happens to the lithium batteries at end of life? Where is the land fill?

Who is paying for this project to be completely rebuilt when the batteries are no longer efficient?

Do the neighbours know that any fire in this BESS will belch toxic smoke over the environment and will be left to burn out as no amount of water will extinguish a battery fire on this scale?

PFAS has been linked to health issues and groundwater contamination.
Will Avenis commit to a PFAS-free site, including fire suppression foam, coating materials, and construction chemicals?

Routine water use is excluded from your Environmental Impact Statement.
Will you publish annual water usage reports and disclose this data publicly to ensure transparency?

Is there alway to be a Host-Landholder Water Burden?
As the landholder bears land-use change, what guarantees will you provide that this BESS won’t strain local water supplies during drought or dry periods?
Is the developer match dollars for decommissioning?

What is being put in place for Cooling & Maintenance Usage?
How do you quantify routine operational and environmental water use, and will these figures be published monthly for community insight?

Thorough research has not been done on the contamination of the materials to use to build and host a BESS to the soils and water.
It is located especially too close to the Mulwala Irrigation channel. Not to mention high fire risk. Finley can have extreme hot weather.
Due diligence to the environmental, social and agricultural impact has not been done. Take away subsidies as well and see if this project can be worth it, after environment impact on the soils and water has been thoroughly done, especially by independent researchers please.

What Stormwater & PFAS Management is in place?
What infrastructure or procedures are in place to ensure collected firewater runs through PFAS treatment or storage ponding to prevent groundwater or farm supply contamination?
