Official Caution issued to Hunter Quarries Pty Ltd (DA 265-10-2004, as modified, Mid-Coast LGA)
On 7 August 2020, the Department issued an Official Caution to Hunter Quarries Pty Ltd (Hunter Quarries) for failure to implement the approved communications strategy at Karuah Quarry. The communication strategy required Hunter Quarries to provide Mid-Coast Council and nearby residents with reports summarising the environmental performance of the development. In accordance with the approved Environmental Management Strategy for Karuah Quarry, these reports are required to be provided every six months to ensure that the community and other stakeholders are kept informed of the status of the development. The Department is working with Hunter Quarries to ensure the community is kept informed of Karuah Quarry’s environmental performance as it enters its closure phase.
