The land for the proposal has been mapped as Biophysical Strategic
Agricultural Land [BSAL] by the State Environmental Planning Policy
2007.
The Maryvale area is a highly productive area in mixed farming and
agriculture in a very high reliable rainfall area. There are two other
proposed solar farms in the immediate area that are currently under
review. 2000ha of productive agricultural land will be set aside for
Solar Farms in this area should they be approved.
Photon also has plans to develop Australia's biggest solar farm on
prime agriculture land at Suntop as well as another at Mumbil all in
the Dubbo Regional Shire.
I would urge the Department to reject the Maryvale Solar Farm
application. Australia can ill afford to lose Prime Agricultural Land
to solar development.
