I am in support of this new venture and am excited that mental health is really being brought to the forefront of medicine as it really interlinks with so many other conditions.
My concern with this build is that there is no mention of any carpark being associated with this building and all the visitors and staff that will come with this project. The hospital parking is already dicey as it is currently without the continued expansion of it. There's not enough room for staff who have to go on waiting lists and wait months to years for approval let alone adding more.

Whilst I do not object the project in principle, I do have the following negative feedback :
- the project fails to achieve the 5 Green star target imposed by DoP. Stretch points should be made mandatory to achieve.
- aesthetically it seems a bizarre choice to use a black and grey palette for a mental health hospital. I was mildly amused to read these where justified as representation of water, earth and fire.
- there is a very limited integration of landscape with built area from level 3 and up (astroturf is not landscape, is plastic). Several studies demonstrate the beneficial impact on mental health of natural material and plants (biophilia). this could be improved.

Designers and developers should be more aware and integrate accordingly better ESD measures. The GBCA has proven that integrating measures at DA stage is more cost effective than attempting to patch up a poor design. A Mental Health Hospital should also have mandatory WELL rating.
