The plan to increase Fox Studios' industrial operations by building a 4,000 square metre workshop to accommodate such activities as spray painting, power coating and fibreglassing is completely unacceptable. This is a residential area and people living in Moore Park Road, Cook Road and Poate Road have reported asthma and skin problems, such as rashes and infections, as a result of adverse air quality. Already Fox Studios is operating contrary to occupational health and safety legislation which requires that notices be placed between a heavy industrial site operation and a publicly accessed site. This area is not even currently suited to being a site of heavy industry. TO further increase the site's cpacity for industrial use is dangerous and a stealthy breach of the trust of the people of Sydney who thought it was going to be an area for making films in the style of Universal Studios in California, not an alienating of a public space for the profit of a few. I am strongly against this application. Even now there are so many traffic every day and so many people after midnight around the EQ. At weekends it is very difficult to cross Lang Road on foot to go to the Centennial Park. Considering that Entertainment Quarter (EQ) is supposed to by "family oriented" by initial approval it's out of question to allow increase of floor space in such a great quantity. That would negatively affect not only EQ but more significantly all surrounding residential areas (traffic,noise, polution etc.. increase) Not to mention that there two secondary and two primary schools and three child care institutions near by. On top of that, the height of some of the buildings shell disrupt views to some of the residents along the cook road. We object to the proposal y Colonial First State on the following grounds Loss of open space particularly given that this can be regarded as public space. Traffic Impact for residence will be extreme.The surrounding road areas suffer over use at present and this will significantly increase . This impact will be even more extreme around peak sporting events and the numerous major events held within the Moore Park and Centennial Park area The plan is only a concept and does not give any specifics around the potential use of buildings and so the impact can not be measured. The loss of childrens playground which we use with our small children The height of buildings will especially the four story buildings will have an adverse and negative effect on the street scape The current management of the area do not adequatetly enforce the traffic restrictions into lang road at present as numerous traffic after 10pm illegial turn left with a resulting surge in trafic numbers after hours As the use of buildings has not been noted we have particular concerns around premises being used for nightclubs and bars which will have a significant effect on the residential nature of the area The plan envisages a change to the masterplan without adequate community consultation. Dear Sir/Madam I am writing as a local resident to express my concern over the proposed expansion of the EQ area with the construction of 9 new buldings, THE PURPOSE OF WHICH HAS NOT BEEN MADE KNOWN! While I appreciate the need for EQ to become more financially viable, further development of the site needs to be done in a manner which is transparent to all those who are impacted by that development; which, in this case, are all those who use, work and live in the precinct. No planning decisions should be made about any new or revised construction on the EQ site until the purpose of each new building is made known to to the public and a full development application is submitted for each building. We strenuously object to the proposed development of the Entertainmednt Quarter as described. Full and good use of the existing site as it currently stands has not been achieved. The proponents seem to not understand that this is public land. Any additional traffic and parking in the area caused by this proposed development will be unsupportable. There already is too much traffic in the area from the site as it currently exists. As a Centennial Park resident, I would like to officially oppose the Entertainment Quarter erecting nine new buildings on the former Moore Park showgrounds site. It would be a huge increase in floor space yet the EQ says uses for the buildings are not yet known. Therefore the impact on the neighbourhood is also unknown. What we do know is that there will be a loss of open space which I object to and that some of our neighbours in Cook Road will have their views affected which I also object to. Without clear and specific information about the use of these buildings I oppose this submission. I am concerned for a number of reasons, Firstly traffic in this area experiences regular severe congestion when the existing facilities are used for events. I am concerned that without further knowledge of the uses of these new buildings that this may infact cause significant deterioration to this already poor position. Secondly the current activities of the entertainment quarter results in the severe limitation of parking to be found within the vicinity of my house, which vistiors can park, this causes serious distress to both myself and my vistors regularly, additionally the level of irregular parkers results in significant loss of privacy to my property. Without knowing what these buildings are intended to be used for there is a risk that this already sub optimal position suffers further deterioration. Furthermore I am concerned as to the potential for removal of childrens play areas, which is not clear, So many of these play areas and public ammenities in the area have been removed over recent years, I fear that the continual removal of these facilities and ammenities causes a real loss of community, something which was important to me when I moved to this area. Furthermore there are already sufficient shopping areas for residents and visitors to the area. The site runs the risk of being overdeveloped and there is a real risk that the site becomes a shopping precint rather than an entertainment precint by stealth. As a resident of Cook Road, I am opposed to the development of area K due to its likely impact on noise levels and views of the surrounding residents. The proposal does not advise the type of activity that will take place in this new building which is also of concern for the residents. With regards to the impact of traffic on the area, I understand the consultants have advised this will be minimal on weekdays however as it is unclear what activities will be taking place in the newly constructed areas, one can only assume that the development will mostly be benefited by weekend trade therefore during times of other events, the impact could be enormous. Also, regardless of the time of the week that the new buildings will be occupied, there will be no increase to public transport amenity which will be badly needed. Please Mr Keary, consider above all else the need for additional public transport to the area no matter what is approved for this application. Better public transport would bring more people to the Entertainment Quarter on a more regular basis, no doubt the main aim of the application.
