There needs to be rules set around builds like this in area like where it is

Please find attached my written submission dated 26 June 2026 objecting to the proposed development, and 4 photos taken from the Northern balcony of my apartment at Level 7, 32 / 5-15 Farrell Ave, Darlinghurst.

As a Kings Cross resident for over 19 years I object to the amended proposal, a 22-storey development that is out of scale and character with its surrounding architecture and environment. Why was a building of 7 storeys originally proposed and consulted on? The newly proposed 22-storey building feels excessive for this location and appears to be a significant departure from the earlier planning that was presented to residents.
Good development should improve a neighbourhood, not overwhelm it. I support redevelopment of the site, but I believe the proposal should be scaled back to achieve a more balanced outcome for both future and existing residents. A lower-scale development could still deliver affordable housing outcomes while better balancing environmental, social and community considerations.
I urge the Department to require a reduction in the height and scale of the proposal and seek a more sustainable design outcome.
