The project described is no good for Lithgow. We need tourism not the destruction of tourism which would be the outcome of this project, Lake Lyell being the victim. I am not against pumped hydro but in the right location, not Lake Lyell.

I am writing to formally express my objection to the proposed construction of the Lake Lyell hydropower plant in our area.
I have serious concerns regarding the potential environmental, social, and economic impacts of this project. Hydropower plants can significantly alter natural river ecosystems, disrupting wildlife habitats, fish migration patterns, and water quality. These changes may have long-term consequences for biodiversity and the health of the surrounding environment.
Additionally, the construction and operation of such a facility will negatively affect our community. The long-term sustainability of these impacts has not been adequately addressed.
Given these issues, I respectfully urge the relevant authorities to reconsider this project.
Thank you for considering my concerns. I trust that they will be taken into account during the decision-making process.

I am writing this submission to object to the construction of Lake Lyell Pumped Hyrdro submission number SSI-7018220.
My name is Debbie Martin and I live on Sir Thomas Mitchell Drive South Bowenfels NSW.
I have lived here for 26 years, with all my family born in Lithgow and grown up with the beautiful Lake Lyell.
My road will be a major part in this construction for this project.
Things that will impact my life if this goes ahead are:
1. Vehicle traffic increased with small and heavy vehicle traffic over 24/7 using road which passes my front gate and house by only 10-15 metres.
2. Noise and blasting vibration to my home, Mt Walker which Energy Australia want to destroy is visible from my kitchen window. The test drilling they conducted on Mt Walker could be heard from my backdoor.
Energy Australia sent a letter out stating that any noise or vibration from construction would have a Nil to Low impact on my home, this I feel is false as we heard test drilling earlier.
3. Dust and Air Quality this would impact me as when westerly winds blow which is a regular occurrence over my home.
4. Stress and sleep disruption due to blasting, drilling, over period of contraction.
5. The safety of my family and grand children when visiting with a busy road at my front gate.
Other things I know will be affected is tourism for Lithgow, No tourism less jobs for people.
In past (drought times) the water level has dropped at the lake leaving a thick mud/slug and smell, this makes the dam unsuitable for family and recreational use. The water level during contraction is to drop at least 5 meters over a period of 4-5 years then daily over the life of the project.
This alone will make the dam unusable for boating, camping and fishing.
Indigenous heritage will be lost.
The impact on bushland and wildlife in area will be devasting. In the back water of this project there is a platypus population Koalas which have been spotted on Mt Walker, also many other wildlife and fauna will be destroyed.
Home and property values be decreased been so close to project.
I feel the construction of Lake Lyell will NOT benefit anything to this area.
There are other better options to store energy/electric then this project.
Generations of families will not see the beauty of Lake Lyell and Mt Walker will be gone forever.
The impact on my life and home will be destroyed and gone forever.

This project will decimate one of NSW's largest platypus populations. The project runs at a 20% loss of energy each cycle. The environmental destruction of this pristine area does not out way the need for the project in this area. There are better alternatives including battery storage, already underway at Mt Piper.
