Project Mars is in reality just a big electronic holding tank storing zeros & ones in computer language. As such, it can be placed anywhere in the world, including under the sea. All it requires is water for cooling plus cables carrying the data and electricity. It does of course, require a plot of land but why put it in a residential environment and spoil everyone's life. Put it in a country area where the local Council's welcome such projects and employment. As cooling is one of the requirements Bathurst, Lithgow, Oberon, Blayney and Glen Innes all of which have low temperatures, would be good places that can reduce cooling costs. Mount Piper power station at Blackmans Flat can supply the power. Similarly, anywhere near the Snowy Mountains would offer the same conveniences. Alternatively, actually build Project Mars on an island in the centre of the cooling lake at Vales Point power station near Newcastle. This could have the effect of extending the life of the power station but if not, it will make good use of the lake and other future data centres could do the same. Hence, in summary don't put Project Mars in the proposed site as it can be built anywhere in Australia without disruption to the community.

I am writing to register my objection to the large data centre being proposed for Mars Rd in Lane Cove. The reasons for my objection:
- Data centres are known to emit high levels of noise 24 hours per day (I have experience with this as I work near a data centre and can vouch that the noise levels are intrusive). This one will be close to houses and the local primary school.
- Data centres consume large amounts of power and water - Both of which are in short supply in the Sydney area.
- The centres could easily be relocated to existing heavy industrial areas where they would not detract from the amenity of the local area.
- The proposed building is large, and likely to overshadow areas of Blackman Park.
- Data centres provide very little employment proportional to their size, and will result in a loss of people in the business park area.
- There are no discernible benefits to the local area.

Way too close to a public school. During building there will be way too much traffic the streets cannot handle, especially with the school and pickups ect. I have little faith it is actually necessary.

The project does not fit with current residential housing in close proximity due to several impacted areas;
Proximity to residential area combined with the overextending height of the structure practically to the edge of where well established residential houses exist!
Impact on native wildlife ecosystem and trees in the area to make way for this enormous building
No reasonable oversight on impact to electricity generation water facilities that will be used to operate the centre and how this will impact residents close by with pressure on grid and water facilities
Extensive heat produced by facility and its impact to nearby residents
Impact on parking
The are is zoned as industrial but this is a large scale project which needs more of a regional or location which is at length and away from established residential facilities
I will have direct line of sight of this immense concrete structure and understand that the height cap is being exceeded as part of the project - why? Is the rule being broken when it impacts nearby residential properties and their worth
We used the park regularly for walks taking the dog out tennis and basketball - this is going to impact the look and feel of lane cove west due to the huge site if the proposed development which is on the boundary of the zone! Surely there are other sites available around Sydney which would not inconvenience residents
There is little undertaken for infrastructure upgrades instead you add more load to an ageing infrastructure leaving residents in the lurch with devalued potential
Property prices and no support

As residents of Lane Cove West, my wife and I are very concerned about the proposed development of yet ANOTHER data centre in the Lane Cove West Business Park. Our suburb is primarily a place of residence, where families have joined together to create a real community with local sporting clubs, businesses, schools, churches and green spaces. In doing so, we have created one of the most sought after suburbs in all of Sydney.
The ariel photographs of the proposed development site show very clearly how close the new structure will be to the residents of this area. It is absolutely unconscionable that the state is considering the establishment of such a large, 24x7 operation directly next to a residential area (less than 50 meters from some homes!). This will be the 3rd data centre approved for this area, and it is undeniable that the CUMULATIVE impact on both electricity and water demands in our local area will be significant. This puts our suburb at risk.
We do understand the need for all communities to be balanced in the pursuit of both residential and commercial outcomes, however these large infrastructure projects appear to be overly concentrated in our area. It is a fact that this new data centre will create very few permanent, local jobs in return for the level of disruption and risk to our community. We strongly believe that the state - and this government - should do better than this.
We demand that you identify an alternate site for your proposed data centre, so that ALL communities can share equally in supporting state projects of this nature.

I object to the proposal because of increased noise, pollution, and increased load on public water, NBN and electricity utilities.

I wish to formally object to the proposed Project Mars Data Centre development.
This proposal is fundamentally incompatible with its location in a quiet, established residential area surrounded by family homes and local schools. The scale and 24/7 operation of a large data centre will introduce continuous noise, light spill, traffic, and industrial activity that is out of character with the existing leafy community. These impacts will significantly diminish the amenity, wellbeing, and sense of safety currently enjoyed by residents.
There is also insufficient clarity around the long-term environmental and health impacts. The potential effects on local wildlife, tree canopy, and urban ecology have not been adequately addressed. Likewise, the cumulative impact of constant operations on children, families, and nearby schools raises serious concern, particularly in relation to noise, air quality, and unknown emissions.
The proposal appears to prioritise industrial infrastructure over community wellbeing, without demonstrating that this is the appropriate location for such a facility.
For these reasons, I strongly urge that this development be refused or, at minimum, reconsidered with meaningful community consultation and more suitable siting.

We have already endured some years of mismanaged data projects- in Hallam Ave, the interflow company has been digging up the street constantly , unsuccessfully looking for a leak in the latest water pipe installation for the most recent data centre, this comes after the previous bankrupted contractor dug up the council strips , parking excavator & "ditch witches on this previously grassed strip, blocking driveway access, for weeks, with oily residue streaming down our drive, into the storm water drain then into Hands Quarry Reserve, where wildlife including Echidnas previously flourished.
This residential/ significant greenspace is not a suitable area for Mega Data centres & the infrastructure they require.
