Shipping containers of lithium batteries is not clean or green. But it will allow the developer to store electricity during sunny days then sell their stored electricity back into the market for an hour or two at peak....making a good profit FROM consumers. Add to that the short life span from litium batteries, the slave and child labour used in the toxic mining process for lithium, the increased fire risks and the leaching of toxic chemicals into the environment and the unrecyclable components. This project is not in the public interest. The only beneficicary will be the developer.

The Molong Battery undermines true energy security by displacing reliable, affordable base-load power with fragile, weather-dependent, bankruptingly costly systems that collapse without constant intervention, subsidies, and emergency back-ups.

The Moss Landing disaster proves these batteries can cause environmental contamination worse than a radioactive spill, because toxic metals and chemicals spread invisibly and remain undetected for years—yet this project blithely ignores those warnings.

Grid-scale lithium batteries like this illogical and treacherous plan from China are inherently insecure, capable of remote shutdown or interference, creating a catastrophic national security vulnerability in a world of cyber warfare—particularly when the supply chain is heavily reliant on our most hostile enemy - the controlling CCP’s unethical - slave labour production and manufacturing.

This obnoxious, public health and safety disaster has no benefits whatsoever as it will only accelerate Australia’s cost-of-living crisis, drive electricity prices higher, destroy productivity, and force manufacturers and farmers out of business whilst crooked, vested interest governments unjustly pretend the pain is “necessary.”

This so-called “green” project is built on unethical mining practices, including child labour, environmental destruction, and geopolitical exploitation—making it a fake green RenewaBULL rort, not an ethical energy solution.

The Molong Battery represents a life-threatening toxic hazard, with lithium-ion chemistry known to release hydrofluoric acid, PFAS “forever chemicals,” and heavy metals during fires—pollutants that permanently contaminate air, soil, water, and lungs, long after the headlines fade.

The NSW Government is not protecting its citizens from poisonous renewables.
