As owners of a home on Gipps Street, my husband and I are extremely concerned about the impact of this proposed apartment block. It is completely out of keeping with the character of the neighbourhood. The proposed height of the apartment block will tower over our houses with significant privacy impacts and blocking of natural light. As parents we are also concerned about the privacy of local (and newly developed) playground Spring St Reserve. Childcare is already extremely difficult to secure with not enough availability at local daycares, this problem will only be worsened if this development goes ahead. We are also concerned that it will add to the already significant traffic and parking congestion on Gipps and surrounding streets, being some of the narrowest streets in Sydney. There has been minimal community consultation about this project.

I think this project is utterly corrupt and exists only to line the pockets of people who are already too wealthy. It makes me physically sick. Sydney is already unaffordable. I love that these scum bags can lie about “affordable housing” when they are literally taking away pre existing affordable housing. I only hope their greed one day catches up to them. I am vehemently opposed to this project.

I object to the proposed development at 160
Oxford st Paddington, one of Sydney’s most precious subjects.

This is totally inappropriate for a heritage area and one of Sydney’s oldest at that.

The bulk, scale and overbearing built form will ruin the amenity of the surrounding streets where residents have abided by heritage planning rules for decades.

I am a QUIMBY- Quality in my back yard and I ask the Planning commission to consider the abuse of affordable housing quotas where only developers stand to gain.

I grew up in Paddington and consider it a travesty that such a protected heritage area be destroyed for inappropriate housing.

I take offence to Premier Minns labelling anyone who objects as ‘heritage lunatics’ - how degrading.

It’s retaining heritage significance such as the Rocks, QVB, Paddington, Centennial Parklands, Glebe and much more that make our city interesting, liveable and an international tourist destination.

In sum I request the proposed development at 160 Oxford st be refused, as the consent authority cannot be satisfied as to the abuse of affordable housing parameters, loss of amenity and surrounding heritage preservation area, likely impacts or the public interest under s4.15 of the EP&A Act.

The project has not undergone appropriate community discussion.
The height/dimensions and density of the project will place an eyesore accross the area including shadowing the barracks and other heritage / historical places.
The development would ruin the ambience of the cultural gathering place that is the intersection.

The project is a massive building in an area of relatively low rise and residential buildings. It degrades the look of the surrounding area. It is not pleasant to look at, makes the suburb look commercial, and is not in the best interest of the surrounding residents. This project is appalling to look at I can believe the local area was not given any right to object to it before it moved to this stage. Please do not approve this application.
