the impact on Barker Street from the construction of Newmarket was horrific. The constant passing of the trucks up and down Barker Street (a council ranger came to my house and witnessed approximately 9 trucks within 5 minutes of each other)
The wear and tear of the road (pot holes)
I complained to council to re-direct the trucks but to no avail until one day a truck pulled down the wires and caused a deadlock of traffic for hours.
Should this project go ahead, I would request that the trucks are re-routed to Rainbow Street via Willis Street as they would not need to use 2nd gear thus reducing the noise levels.

The current approved development has already taken up "in-fill affordable housing"concessions which enabled the developer to add an additional two levels to the currently zoned eight level maximum height. This current proposed modification would increase the nine level section of the building to twelve floors. To me this would appear to be a complete abuse of the current affordable housing concessions by the developer without giving consideration to the current local population. I do not see any reference to increases in the provision of on, or off site parking, provision of improvements to traffic congestion in the surrounding areas, provision of facilities like increased parks & gardens for use of the increase in people living & working within the local vicinity. As you would be aware there is a large volume of apartment buildings currently being constructed and planned to be constructed in the immediate area. Currently the roads are gridlocked at peak hours and there is rarely on street parking available. Obviously any increases in the number of apartments will add to this congestion & add increased pressure to the limited existing facilities.
I totally object to any increases in the number of apartments until the available infrastructure has been increased to a suitable level.

I support the project, I believe it will significantly increase housing affordability and availability in the area.

I would however like to see the number of units significantly increased.

I object because the extra 3 levels are going to impact badly on the aspect of the escarpment view, and the already overburdened traffic flow in that area and the roads leading into the CBD. This development along with all the others, is going to ruin Wollongong's scenic views of the escarpment. One of the main drawcards for Wollongong is its scenic beauty and closeness to nature. The extra height ruins the view, and consequently negatively impacts on the value of existing properties facing the escarpment.
8-10 storeys is already too high, please do not allow another 3 levels.
