Dear Sir/Madam,
State Significant Project - Angus Place Mine Extension (SSD 12_5602)
I am very concerned by the lack of concern for the value of water in one of the driest continent on the planet. Not thinking about the consequences of actions chosen by a commercial project is incredibly unsavoury and unintelligent.
- I find that an additional ventilation facility proposed location close to the Wolgan River is unacceptable.
- The proposed discharge of up to 43.8ML/day of eco-toxic mine effluent is SHOCKING!
The project is childish when reverse osmosis technology could remove all metals and salts before discharge to the Cox River.
- Once again, Australia looks STUPID on the International scene in a decision that chooses the pollution of Carne Creek and its waters that flow through the Greater Blue Mountains World Heritage Area currently in a pristine state.
This creek must not run bright orange, just like the Wolgan River after Centennial Coal wrecked it.
- Please require Centennial to revise this proposal to improve environmental outcomes.
I would like responsible care for resources be chosen.
Of course it is more expensive to be responsible and concerned in avoiding pollution however, engineering and technology do exist. And long term view should be of value.
I expect DUTY OF CARE from your Department.
Yours sincerely,
Marina E. Olivier
