Lithgow needs to grow and move forward into the future. This project is of State significants and will be good for the State as a whole.

This is absolute devastation. To all those present and everyone to come. In 80 years our children will be looking at nothing but destroyed wasteland. It's 2026 and there are much better alternatives to this outdated technology. This has to be stopped.

I have lived in Lithgow since 1979, 47 years. To be in close proximity of so much natural Australian bushland is fundamental to the local (and especially my) lifestyle and therefore any development which impinges upon such natural features must be scrutinised extremely carefully to make sure any proposed project adds value or even more importantly doesn't degrade unnecessarily the environment. This proposal's purported 'value adding' is highly questionable and in my opinion degrades the local environment in a most destructive way. Habitats will be affected- probably destroyed , such as the local platypus population in the reaches of Lake Lyell where this project is to be situated. Long term damage is a major risk after five years of construction and general 3m water level decrease have been realised. For what benefit? ? No new electricity is going to be produced - just a glorified battery storage thing! In times of Drought water storage from Lake Lyell will be more important than this Hydro project therefore compromising local water usage needs. I have enjoyed paddling up to the higher reaches of Lake Lyell and 4 wd bush trips around Mt Walker. This dam on the top of Mt Walker is just going to ruin the ambience and natural environment of this important landmark(not to say the Aboriginal sacred sites). Wildlife habitats around the mountain and especially the peak and ridge lines will be unnecessarily affected detrimentally. We don't need this project from an Energy viewpoint - Funds would be more effective if put towards a new coal fired power station which is the most cast effective way to produce Electricity. It is proven and improved technology and has been for many decades here in Lithgow. Heaps of scientific evidence points to the myth that catastophic climate change warrants such projects as these. The potential and I think inevitable long term permanent damage to the local environment ,habitats, Aboriginal heritage sites , recreational dam activities and general lifestyle well- being makes this proposed project totally unviable, unnecessary and damaging to the local area(and especially my use of the area).

My family has lived in Lithgow for the passed 50+ years.
My mother in-law lives on Sir Thomas Mitchell drive. This may reduce the value of her land significantly.
My family spends a lot of time at Lake Lyell swimming, water skiing, fishing, walking. This project will affect locals enjoyment of the dam and have a major affect on a major tourist attraction for the town.
The works carried out at the dam will affect wildlife and the visual affect and appeal of the land.
The road infrastructure is not suitable for the extra traffic and trucks that will travel those roads making a quiet family area with children that ride bikes and horses etc along the road, this will now be unsafe.
Further generations of families will miss out on the beauty of lake Lyell and mount walker as previous generous have enjoyed.
There are other ways to store electricity eg the proposed battery storage at Wallerawang.

I wish to strongly object to the proposed Lake Lyell Pumped Hydro project. I believe that if this project were to go ahead it would have significantly detrimental effects on myself, my family and the wider community.
I grew up on a property on Sir Thomas Mitchell Drive, South Bowenfels, where my family has lived for over three decades and my mother still resides. This is where our family home is and it holds an enormous amount of sentimental value.

For our family and many others in the greater Lithgow area and beyond, Lake Lyell is a big part of our lives not just in Summer, but all year round. The beautiful view and peaceful environment is one that is truly special.

I fear for the animals whose habitats will be affected by this project. Our beautiful native fauna that this project risks causing permanent and irreversible environmental harm to.

With so many treasured memories of summers spent down at the Lake the thought of this project going ahead is devastating.

This project will affect the lifestyle of many local residents, as well as visitors with the increased construction traffic, noise and dust from the blasting. This along with concerns about vibration damage to homes and the toll of living near an active construction zone for an extended period is horrible.

The temporary increase in employment simply does not outweigh all the negatives to the project going ahead.

For these reasons, I strongly object to the Lake Lyell Pumped Hydro project.
