I have lived and worked in the Muswellbrook region for many years and am currently employed within the local mining industry. I understand the importance that mining operations such as Mount Pleasant have for our local community and I fully support the continuation of the operation through Modification 8.

Mount Pleasant supports not only direct employment, but also a broad network of contractors, suppliers and service providers who rely on continuity of mining activity within the Hunter Valley. The potential closure of Mount Pleasant in December 2026 if MOD 8 is not approved would create significant uncertainty for the many local businesses and workers whose livelihoods depend on the operation continuing.

With other major projects in the region approaching the end of their mine life, the continuation of Mount Pleasant provides stability for the local workforce and enables individuals and businesses to plan ahead with confidence. This includes ongoing investment in skills, apprenticeships, training pathways and support for local suppliers who are embedded within the regional economy.

Mount Pleasant also plays an important role in supporting local employment and contributing to the community through sponsorships, partnerships and royalty contributions to NSW

The continuation of the operation through MOD 8 will help maintain economic activity within Muswellbrook and ensure that the transition of the regional workforce occurs in a structured and sustainable way over time.

For these reasons, I fully support Modification 8 to enable the continued operation of Mount Pleasant.

There are currently no other industry within the Upper Hunter that could absorb the workforce that would be made redundant with the closure of this operation.
There is also an economical benefit with the operation supporting many community projects

I support Mount Pleasant because I see the direct benefits it provides to the community, including contributing to many local community initiatives financially and through volunteers from the project, the vast number of jobs and the positive impact to the region. It would be crazy to shut MPO and I hope that their approval is granted.

I am in support of this submission because we have no real alternative

I wish to express my strong support for the continuation of the MTPO, which I believe is essential to the economic prosperity of the Upper Hunter region and the sustainability of the many local businesses it supports. As a contractor who has spent several years maintaining equipment on site, I have seen firsthand the significant value this operation provides—not only to the current workforce but also to future generations.
The work undertaken through MTPO plays a critical role in developing skilled tradespeople and qualified workers who are proficient in heavy and fixed plant operations. This contribution to skills development is vital for maintaining a capable, resilient, and future-ready workforce within the region.
Furthermore, the proposed expansion of the operation will deliver meaningful benefits to the community through increased employment opportunities and additional local revenue. These outcomes will help ensure the continued growth and stability of the Upper Hunter area.
For these reasons, I strongly support the continuation and expansion of MTPO.

As a resident of the upper hunter and my wife's place of employment, i fully support the continuation of the Mt Pleasant project, the continuation of this project is vital for our rural community through the economic injection of long term employment, mine suppliers and additional employment that creates, ongoing community sponsorship and grants and the royalties to NSW government .
