New M5 Environmental Impact Statement Technical Working Paper: Noise and Vibration Nov 2015 Appendix J Section 8.2 St Peters Interchange. Paragraphs 3and 4A noise barrier was initially considered to the south of the proposed alignment. As access to properties and
existing roads would need to be maintained, it would not be feasible to build noise barriers to mitigate the noise
impacts. It was also not considered reasonable to build a noise barrier to the north of Campbell Street due to
visual amenity and other urban design aspects.
Due to the limited availability of noise mitigation options, 144 residential receivers would continue to have residual
noise levels above the controlling criterion. These receivers would be eligible for the consideration of at-property
treatments to achieve compliance with the applicable noise goals. This should be subject to confirmation during
detailed design.

Request: I am one of the 144 residents impacted by this project. i submit an alternative concept to the upgrade of Campbell Rd. See attachments.

The attachments show the retention of the existing Campbell Rd with the new upgraded through Road (Campbell Rd South, for want of a better term) shifted to the south out the front of the 'Campbell Rd Terraces'. Shifting the new Campbell Rd to the south offers the residents on the existing Campbell Rd (and park users in the vicinity of the road) a buffer to the noise from the new major roadway (Campbell Rd South). The section plan shows a noise barrier and landscaping on the southern side of the existing Campbell Rd. The installation of a noise wall and landscaping would offer further noise reductions, improve the aesthetics from the front of our terraces and passersby, allow for on street parking as per our current situation, offer slower vehicular speeds for safer access to the park and allow park users to enter the park from a dedicated access way, away from noise and traffic.

Should a busway be constructed along 'Campbell Rd South' gaps though the noise wall would allow commuters greater access to transport. Bike paths can be constructed along the existing Campbell Rd removing bike traffic from the fast moving traffic on Campbell Rd South.

The noise wall could be constructed at the outset of the project and remove the need for temporary noise measures around construction compound (C9) , a noise barrier installed to minimise noise to the Campbell Rd terraces.

Consideration of the alternative concept for Campbell Rd is requested.
