Re Jupiter Wind Farm Proposal SSD 13_6277

I object to the proposed Jupiter wind farm.

I object until such time as your department has provided evidence, which will stand up in court, that the wind farm will not blight the view from my particular property or surrounding areas and will not in any way, such as noise, harm our sleep or health or harm our amenity on this property or in other ways harm our lifestyle, including reception for TV, radio, mobile phone and internet, and that it will not increase the bushfire threat to my property or increase the difficulty of protecting my property from bushfires or devalue my property.

I look forward to the provision by you of fully researched analysis independent of the developer, in relation to this particular property, to establish there will be no harm and, in the absence of such evidence, register my objection.

I have no reportable political donations in the previous two years.

I object to the proposed Jupiter Wind Farm as the wind mills will be a very substantial eye-sore situated less than 1km from my dwelling and stretching along the length of the ridge which makes up the only view. This will greatly reduce the value of my property and the number of potential buyers in the future. This represents a very large devaluation of my only major asset.

I have had discussions with representatives of the wind farm and found quite disturbing the wide range of issues not mentioned, instead focusing on a strategy of very meager yearly payments contingent on my signing what they termed an "agreement" but I believe any fool could see was a legally binding contract, witnessed and copied to all and sundry. Clauses in this "agreement" effectively stripped me of any rights as a land owner. One in particular required that upon any future sale of the property I must ensure that a potential buyer agree to and sign a copy of the same "agreement".

Take a moment to think about this!

I object to this submission on the following points
1. In the EIS our property is mentioned and they have proposed planting trees less than 2m from my home to block out the view of turbines This is a fire hazard as well as it would take at least 20 years for the view to obscured. Given the two fires near our property 654 Boro rd Dec 11 and the Currendooley Jan 17 making this type screen is irresponsible and not really researched fully.
2. The EIS makes no mention of the 16 turbines that are to be sited behind my home. One is 1.6km from the back verandah. No mention is made of how these are to be screened from view.
3. We already have poor mobile signal, TV only through a very large antenna and internet through a satellite dish at 500% more cost than an average home in suburbia. If this proposal goes ahead we will lose all of this and only at further cost will it become available through satellite and then also no local content.
4. Most of these concerns have been raised through consultation and have been dismissed through vague generalisations or scientific mumbo jumbo which when examined doesnt pertain to our circumstances or location.
5. This project has caused a lot of anxiety for myself as I do not want to move but having these turbines surrounding me is not why we bought here ten years ago. This is a rural RESIDENTIAL block with over 30 similar blocks around us.

I wish to object to the proposal because of the visual impacts to our property. The outlook from our property faces directly towards where the turbines will be situated. I will be faced with the potential of having turbines towering greater than 170 m tall at a distance barely a kilometre away. They will dominate the ridge and destroy the amenity of the property. I chose to live away from the city becasue I want to be part of the bush and having such industrial sized strucutures that close is horrifying. We searched long and hard for the right property and we decided that this property was the one becasue of its outlook. Because it was unlikely that we would be able to see any other signs of society. When I turn onto the dirt road it means I am leaving society behind. We generate out own power, we have composting toilets, we don't have TV, we try to be as self sufficient as we can so that we can step out of society for even the littlest amount of time while we are home and that is going to be destroyed every timer we walk out the dootr and are greated by giant turbines. I appreciate the benefits to the environment of green power and I have children and hope that there is still a habitable planet for them in the future but I'm doing my bit for the planet already and don't want giant turbines on my doorstep and they are literally on the doorstep.

I purchased a simple elevated country property on Taylors Creek road because the aspect offered extensive panoramic views towards the East and Coastal Ranges. I am not a farmer and simply enjoy the piece and serenity of this area, even though I have to drive 1.5 hours to work and back each day. A fence line of spinning turbines directly in front of my property, that I will be unable to look away from, will certainly affect my health and wellbeing. This installation will almost complete a 360 degree circle around my property, when considering the current installations.

Installation of the Jupiter windfarm will totally destroy the panorama I enjoy, subsequently devaluating my property even further.

This region is becoming a rural industrial hub, already has 3 wind farms, a huge waste management facility at Woodlawn, dealing with over a million tonnes a year of Sydney garbage the re opening of the Woodlawn mine and the proposal for a huge solar farm near Bungendore.

I object to the wind farm going ahead on the grounds that it may affect me and my family health wise and financial wise and also may affect my livestock on the property and I don't want them to imped or block my view in any way. If any of the above happens I will be seeking compensation.

This objection was put in before the 1st of march as this was the deadline for people helping with the bush fires that were very close to our area.

Research into the effects of wind farms on the health of humans is relatively new and care should be taken to conclude that there will be no longer term effects as new research emerges into the role of the environment on the developing fetus. One area of research is the effect of maternal cortisol levels on infant mental health and motor development. Increases in cortisol levels can be caused by increased levels of stress.
Agnew, Smith & Fowkes 2016, in the Journal of Wildlife Diseases suggested in their study that turbine noise caused high levels of stress in badgers and that this then caused high cortisol levels. The authors further suggested that these increased levels of cortisol may affect the badgers' immune system increasing the risk of infections.
While research has examined the impact on noise from wind turbines on adults, I am not aware of any research that has examined the impact of noise retrospectively on child health outcomes and I have concerns as a research student that the placing of 88 wind turbines in an area where young families is placing at risk the future health of children.
