The proposed modification to the location of Showground station reduces the impact on the Castle hill Showground, however, this change requires the demolition of the Hills centre performing arts facility.
-This facility is the largest in the area, many times larger than others, and better equipped.
- It is also a landmark building in its own right. It, and the council chambers compliment the Showground in form and colours, allowing extra public space for events (such as Australia day celebrations, which have been held around the council building), and in adding to entertainment nature of the area.
-Using the area for other purposes, like retail and residential, would subtract from the entertainment value of the area.
-Noise and activity in the Showground could adversely impact any residents in the area.
-Locating the performing arts centre near a station is a good planning desision, as it gives many access to it. Keeping it in the hills also gives good access to hills residents.
If the spoil and segment handling was rearranged, and the platform moved further towards the south, (possibly as shown in the attachment,) then the Hills centre may be able to be retained. But in its current form, I do not support modification to the Showground station plan. It could do with some further modification.

Attention: Director , Infrastructure Projects.
We support the proposal as a whole. Our growing community needs choice/options for transport to the Sydney CBD.

Our concern: Due to the recent decision made to move the location of the now known Showground station (formerly Hills Centre) to the Council Chambers/Hills Centre location. The impact of the site development will have a large impact on our potential prospects of renters & the rental income of our property situated at XXXXXXXXX, Castle Hill. We are very reliant on the rental return from this property in order to pay the mortgage. Increasing our concern is the duration of time this will cause impact. If I was looking for a rental property, I would certainly not find this property appealing during the many years of construction that will need to occur.

Regards,

We DO NOT support this proposal due to:
The suggested access point to the railway station being changed to Carrington Road which is
close to residential streets that are currently reasonably quiet and free of commuter parking
issues. The inevitable overspill of commuter parking into the neighbouring residential streets
would cause
- disruption,
- noise issues,
- problems accessing our streets for residents and school buses,
- kerbside obstruction of recycling and garbage collections
which would severely affect our way of life and wellbeing.

We initially supported the railway on the understanding that access would be from Showground Road.

It is a colossal waste to demolish The Hills Centre. The new station can be built either between The Hill Centre & Carrington Street, The Hill Centre & current depot or The Hill Centre & the new road connecting Doran & Showground Road.

Further the conner of Middleton Avenue & Partridge Avenue should teobe blocked

North West Disability Services is a not for profit organisation providing respite accommodation for individuals with an acquired brain injury at a residence Gemhill Cottage, 28 Carrington Rd, Castle Hill. This is directly opposite the proposed North West Rail Link, Showground station and falls in the high noise level area that exceeds 20 Decibels. We are submitting a submission for modification to ensure we can manage and mitigate the expected noise, vibration, and increased impact from the construction traffic flow. We value your assistance in this regard as we have individuals with a disability who require rest or sleep during the daytime and nighttime in bedrooms at the front of the house.
