I am strongly opposed to any extension of mining in environmentally sensitive areas. Furthermore, -existing- coal mines are closing all round Australia as the demand for coal dimishes. Why -extend- a coal mine that would damage the environment? Makes no sense.

I have been requesting this are be protected for over 20 years having taken a couple of Enviornment ministers into teh area when i lived in Sydney. One would have hoped that succesive governments would have realised that coal mininbg in this area and proptecting biodiversity are incompatable

I am disgusted by previous damage by the coal industry in the area. It is one of the best and most accessible wilderness areas near Sydney, one that my family and friends often enjoy. To risk damaging it in this way is repugnant, and I find the sharp practices of the coal industry to be despicable.

The proposed Angus Place modification 4 proposal would set a precedent that allows damaging mining in the sensitive Carne Creek catchment which contains the highest conservation value swamps on Newnes Plateau.

Centennial Coal (despite all the controversial negative publicity and concerns about abuses of process) wants high intensity mining in this environmentally sensitive area.

The Modification 4 proposal should be refused not only because of its harmful effects on the environment but
it would also pre-empts decision making for the major mine extension proposal under assessment (i.e. SSD5602).
