The games won’t be cancelled due to rain on the courts. The stadium is in need of a replacement as the old one is falling apart.

Newcastle basketball stadium is very out dated and the area is in desperate need of a new updated stadium to support all future basketball players. It would be amazing to see Newcastle host a WNBL game

Green space will NEVER be reclaimed once a large structure is built on it.
Human beings need green grass and fresh outdoor air. Kids need places to run around. This is especially true with so much high density housing becoming the norm.
PLEASE don’t allocate this precious piece of ground only to people who play basketball.

This new venue will have a huge positive effect on not only athletes both young and old but also on tourism in Newcastle with the number of State and National events we will be able to host. This will bring millions of dollars into the community.

I would really like to see this project go ahead to provide our young athletes with an adequate facility to train and play. My daughter is a rep player with the Newcastle Falcons and we spend a lot of time at this stadium - as do many other players, various organisations and schools. In our family's travels for rep basketball, we have played in some incredible facilities, and it is such a shame that in a town the size of Newcastle, we have the worst facilities in the northern region. There are so many Falcons teams that have been representing Newcastle with so much success, basketball in Newcastle deserves to be supported.

People are being turned away from playing sport due to the lack of space - children deserve to have the opportunity to have access to a variety of sports, and there is only one stadium in Newcastle that we have access to. Newcastle is continually growing as a community and we all deserve a dedicated space for indoor sports. In addition to housing basketball, there are many other sports and community members that would benefit from this project going ahead. You would only need to visit the current stadium to see the number of people invested in this space to realise the benefits that a new stadium would provide to the wider community. The stadium is long overdue for refurbishment - an indoor sport shouldn't need to worry about wet weather calling off the games!

We really hope that this project is able to get off the ground so that the Newcastle community is able to utilise a state of the art facility across a range of sports, and be able to allow more people accessibility to sports in our community.

I am strongly in support of Hunter Indoor Sports Centre. As the mum of 3 boys who have all participated in basketball at the current Newcastle Basketball Stadium I know just how needed this facility is.. the existing stadium is so dilapidated and small that it limits how much sport can be enjoyed by young people across the region. Friends of mine could never understand when I said that basketball would be cancelled so often due to the rain.. but when it rains on the outside, it 'rains' inside the current stadium too!

At a time when we have increasing rates of obesity and mental health issues amongst our young people, I fully support anything that is proven to help get them active and engaged.

I do understand there is a cost in terms of the loss of current fields but I think if proper analysis is done it would show the overall increase in utility per hour across the entire week is substantially higher with an indoor stadium.

Newcastle has been promised this for too long.. now is the time to do it!

Newcastle is in dire need for new basketball facilities. The sport is growing at a rapid rate and needs the facilities to accomodate. This will also enable the growth of live sporting events in the city.

I think Newcastle desperately needs a high quality indoor sports centre. With basketball being one of the highest growing sports in the area.
I think it would benefit the growth of sport as a whole and strengthen newcastles position in sporting Australia
