19 - 24 Balfour Street Lindfield.
I do not support the project.
I am very concerned that the proposal seriously underestimates the impact on vehicle traffic in the area and therefore on pedestrians as well.
I am a local resident and have observed the changes in traffic for many years. The traffic at the intersection of the Pacific Highway and Balfour Street is already very congested at most times, especially at school pick up and drop off times during the week. There are two schools in the immediate area which contribute to this problem. As they have grown larger in recent years so the drop off and pick up has increased.
Now that the redeveloped Coles has reopened there is an increase in traffic from and across the Pacific Highway funnelling into Balfour Street. There are always cars parked opposite Coles on Balfour and vehicles exiting the small lane between the rear of the Highway shops and Lindfield Manor. It is a convenient way to turn into Balfour St to avoid the Highway.
Traffic comes up Balfour Street onto and across the Pacific Highway as the street is one of the few places where vehicles from West Lindfield etc can cross the Highway.
For the duration of the construction of the proposed development there is likely to be an enormous amount of very large truck traffic as well as workers needing to park their vehicles in surrounding streets. The surrounding streets are already parked out by an increase in commuter parking. Not to mention deliveries to the Coles building which will also have residents in vehicles, all of which adds to the cumulative effect of traffic in the area.
Balfour Street itself is narrow and the exit into Bent Street is on a slope and on a tight corner.
I believe that this proposal seriously underestimates traffic conditions which exist already and its impact on these.

Please come and have a look at all of the other potential sites for such a development which are located on the Pacific Highway (and not in the depths of a side street in a heritage conservation zone) which are much more suitable. I can take you on a tour if you would like.

This proposal supports infill housing in a well-connected location just a short walk from Lindfield Station, helping to meet growing demand within the existing urban footprint. By incorporating affordable units, it addresses local housing needs and contributes to diversity in housing supply. It strikes a balanced approach between increased housing delivery and respect for Lindfield’s established built character
