Looks like a good idea to expand the footprint of a large local employer.

I strongly object to this submission.
I have lived in Stanmore in Harrow Road for 30 years and raised my family here.
I, my family and neighbours have already dealt with the increase in traffic due to changes to carpark access to the Newington College and Wyvern House from Harrow Road.
For years, we have had parents twice daily blocking the street, creating traffic hazards for local children, and generally behaving inconsiderately towards local children and residents. This behaviour includes double parking, sitting in a car with the engine running before and after school pickup, blocking access to Harrow Road and Merchant St, and making it dangerous for the local children to cross the intersections of Merchant St and Harrow Road, and Harrow Road and Trafalgar St.

Given the proven attitude to safety and local traffic that is experienced daily for residents and children of Harrow Road and Merchant Street, I have absolutely no doubt that the impact on local traffic and children at the proposed site on Holt St will be even more severe. There are more children and parents, and an even younger cohort (given the Childcare Centre and Before and After school care centre on Cavendish St, the local park and the five schools.
There are already issues with traffic blockages on Holt St and Cambridge St from the existing level of Newington related traffic, and to introduce another access point to another carpark on another suburban street is ridiculous. This is particularly true for the large private buses that try to traverse these small suburban streets and often block traffic at pickup time.
If this development goes ahead, which is already a contentious point in such a tightly packed suburban area, any entry point or exit point for another carpark or Newington facility should be on Stanmore Road.
More overdevelopment of this suburban site to cater for Newington drive in drive out cohorts is inappropriate.
The short term impacts of development will affect the local community and children, and the long term impacts even more so.
Our community has spent many years approaching local council with objections to the increase in traffic, the behaviour of the parent cohort and the current danger to pedestrians to little avail.
It would be good to know why such a development in a suburban area for a particular cohort is being categorised as 'state significant', if not to fast track an unsuitable development over the best interests of the local community.

Too much traffic and no room already

Appropirate parking has not been allowed to accomodate the proposed changes. Additionally the change to the driving conditions on Standmore Rd and Cavindish Street have not been sufficently informed nor impact accounted for.
Entry and exit to the proposed building on the Northen side of Stanmore Rd will impact local residents by
- Increase of required parking due to increase in student numbers both workers during building stage, staff, sr students parking (ongoing) and parents/guests parking for compulsary sporting events on weekends
- Increased traffic on Cavendish street (note currenlty only a single vehicle can pass safely from Cavendish St to Aubrey Street)
- Impact on Stanmore Rd traffic
I request that further design and community consultation is conducted to improve the potentional traffic imacts of the propsed redevelopment.

As a resident of Stanmore, I am concerned abut the increase in traffic generated by a marked increase projected for this 4-storey structure, the projection of 1800 students and hundreds of staff will have a significant impact on already narrow streets such as Trafalgar street with the pedestrian crossing and traffic lights near Stanmore Station.

I am a Public School teacher who commutes on foot or by car along Trafalgar, it is already hazardous with the current situation for vehicles, cyclist and pedestrians near the proposed site. Constructing a 4-storey redevelopment of this site will further complicate traffic and flow of pedestrians along footpaths from Stanmore Station to this proposed site.

I am concerned about the impact this development will have on the local Stanmore Public students and their safety at the junction near the station, and the ability for parents and carers to have safe drop-offs at school, and the impact of this increase in traffic from students and staff at this private school.

I already see large expensive SUVs with Newington stickers speeding down these narrow streets, not staying left and failing to give way to pedestrians. Expanding the space for Newington students at yet another campus will have an irreversible impact on the morning commute for many residents and families. This project needs to account for the impact on surrounding residents and the public school community.

I am a Stanmore resident and I object to this proposal.

The traffic around Newington is already extremely busy, especially during school drop-off and pick-up. With so many schools located close together, our local streets are already struggling to cope.

I'm concerned that demolishing the Concordia Building and replacing it with a larger four-storey building will increase traffic, congestion and parking problems in an area that is already under pressure. During construction, heavy vehicles using local streets will also create unnecessary safety risks for children and families walking to and from school every day.

I would like to see any construction traffic restricted to Stanmore Road rather than residential streets such as Cavendish Street, Holt Street and Merchant Street. The safety of our community, particularly school children, should come before further development.

I don't believe this proposal adequately addresses the impact it will have on local residents, traffic and pedestrian safety, and for these reasons I object to the redevelopment.
