Designated Development - Extractive Industry
Redden Quarry (Chert Mine)
Western Regional Planning Panel
This application was originally assessed as Extractive Industry (Designated). Council had received an updated EIS and revised parameters for the above Development Application. The changes to the at that time are summarised as:
• Increasing the duration of the development from 4 years to 6 years; and
• Increasing the total volume of material to be extracted to 2.94M tonnes over 6 years; and;
• Increasing the depth of extraction from 251 AHD to 223m AHD; and
• Vegetation clearing for the development occurring in six stages; and
• Making financial contributions for biodiversity offsets in stages.
During re-notification and referral the material was identified as a mineral and approval s sought as a 'mine'. Delegation of the WRPP as the consent authority pursuant to s377 of Local Government Act has been sought (note this is not an option on the portal as 'Type of Development' and application details should be noted as a mine).
