Problem statement

How can the NSW Planning Portal ensure users’ confidence that their development applications, personal data, and planning interactions are securely protected—while maintaining seamless, uninterrupted access in an evolving cyber threat landscape?

Scope

This will involve exploring factors such as: 

• Strengthening the protection of sensitive planning data from breaches or unauthorised access.
• Improving compliance with government cybersecurity frameworks.
• Supporting the safe integration of AI tools, spatial services and third-party systems.
• Reducing disruptions to digital services.
• Implementing multi-factor authentication for all user types.
• Reviewing privacy policies.
