Proposal:
The Department of Planning, Housing and Infrastructure (the Department) is exhibiting a Rezoning Proposal from Homes NSW for the renewal of part of Bellambi Estate, located within the City of Wollongong Local Government Area.
The proposal aims to amend the Wollongong Local Environmental Plan (LEP) 2009 to enable:
- up to 2,500 new social, affordable and private homes, with a minimum of 30% dedicated to social housing
- a new local centre and public plaza
- improved local streets, walking and cycling pathways and open spaces
- upgraded public facilities
- increased tree planting and landscaping, targeting a minimum 30% canopy cover.
Homes NSW is the applicant for this proposal, and the Department is responsible for exhibiting the proposal, gathering feedback and assessing the final plans.
Submit your feedback below before 5pm 13 March 2026. Feedback received during exhibition will inform the finalisation of the proposal, with an outcome expected in late 2026.
