The Western Gateway is the first sub-precinct within Central SSP.
The Department has amended the planning controls of the Sydney Local Environmental Plan 2012 that apply to the Western Gateway area to enable redevelopment for a technology and innovation precinct. The revised controls can be viewed on the NSW Legislation website.
The draft rezoning package for the Western Gateway sub-precinct was exhibited from 16 October to 27 November 2019 alongside a Strategic Vision document which set out the vision, principles, future sub-precincts in Central SSP and context for the consideration of the Western Gateway proposal.

The Strategic Vision will be finalised as a Strategic Framework. Once finalised, the Strategic Framework will set the vision and principles for future stages of planning in Central SSP.
Consultation
The Department has sought feedback from the community, government agencies and other stakeholders during public exhibition. This feedback helps us better understand the opinions and concerns of the community, which informs our decisions.
