Draft State Environmental Planning Policy (Educational Establishments and Child Care Facilities)

The Department of Planning and Environment is inviting feedback on the proposed draft State Environmental Planning Policy (Educational Establishments and Child Care Facilities) 2017 (draft Education and Child Care SEPP) and associated planning and design guidelines. The draft Education and Child Care SEPP aims to: Simplify and standardise planning approval pathways for educational establishments and child care facilities (including allowing certain development as exempt and complying development); Establish consistent State-wide assessment requirements and controls; and, Align the National Quality Framework for Early Childhood Education and Care Facilities with the NSW planning system. The draft Education and Child Care SEPP applies to child care facilities, schools, TAFEs and universities across NSW. Draft planning guidelines have been prepared to assist education providers when planning and designing education and child care facilities. The draft Education and Child Care SEPP and associated guidelines provide greater clarity, consistency and transparency around planning for education and child care facilities. We welcome your feedback on the draft SEPP and guidelines. Submissions can be made until 7 April 2017.
