The Showground Station Precinct has now been rezoned. The development of the precinct provides a unique opportunity to deliver new homes close to public transport, employment opportunities and open space/cultural facilities. The Precinct was rezoned in December 2017. The Showground Station Precinct was made available for community consultation from 7 December 2015 to 28 February 2016. The draft proposal was developed with the vision to create "The Hills Cultural and Innovation Precinct". The precinct will be a more attractive place to live with new public spaces including a new village plaza opposite the station, potential for new and regional recreational and sporting fields to be located at Castle Hill Showground, expanding and/or embellishing Chapman Avenue Reserve, and improving the Cattai Creek Corridor. Community consultation Community input was an important part of the planning process and the feedback received was considered and used to inform the final plans for the area. The submissions received in response to the draft proposal have been uploaded to the Department's website.
