The Department have sought feedback on changes that will transition from the use of PDF maps to ‘digital mapping’ as the legal map reference of environmental planning instruments (EPIs). This transition will save time and costs, reduce errors in EPIs and provide a central location for the EPIs through their preparation, consultation, submission, approval and publication lifecycle.
Key proposed changes include:
- EPIs will be published in a digital map, as opposed to a static PDF map.
- The NSW Planning Database will be the single source of truth for geospatial planning data and can be integrated with council’s GIS tools.
