The NSW Government is seeking feedback on the draft Terms of Reference for the Lower Hunter Strategic Assessment (under the Commonwealth Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999). A strategic assessment under the Commonwealth EPBC Act is a landscape scale assessment that enables a broader consideration of environmental issues including biodiversity conservation than is possible on an individual project-by-project basis. The Lower Hunter Strategic Assessment will investigate ways to protect, enhance and manage the nationally significant environmental features across the Lower Hunter region, while also enabling development. The Terms of Reference will set out what is to be assessed and included in the Lower Hunter Strategic Assessment Report.
