Submission objecting to the Burroway Solar and BESS Project being granted a planning permit or in any way proceeding to construction.
1. The Burroway Solar Farm and BESS is a parasitic Solar Farm and BESS complex that is only able, (because of a shortage of weather fuel, sunshine) to operate for a maximum of eight hours a day (33%) and because of clouds and rain, some days produces very little or nothing at all. If it was not subsidised, investors would never consider it as a worthwhile investment.
This statement alone clearly sets out. That by its intermittent and unreliable nature of electricity production, (because of an unreliable supply of ‘weather’ fuel). The Burroway Solar Farm and BESS should never, ever be considered as an economic or dependable electricity generator for supplying baseload electricity to a modern electricity grid.
2. The Burroway Solar Farm and BESS will permanently pollute the farmland it is on, and the agricultural production will be lost each year for the next 100 years or more. Note: At present the Burroway Solar Farm and BESS land is producing each year, a good amount of agricultural produce, that economically benefits the farmer, surrounding towns, cities and eventually Australia with economic stimulation and jobs. As previously stated this will be a very large negative against the SSPH forever.
3. Adding a BESS to the Burroway Solar Farm and BESS, is completely unnecessary and worthless. To add a BESS to the mix, does not produce one MWh of power and actually loses 16% of the power, having to convert it from AC to DC current going into the BESS. And again converting the current via Inverters from DC to AC current when transferring out of the BESS. This loss via conversion only increases the price to the end electricity user. Extremely high prices do as much damage to economies as shortages of supply.
4. The Burroway Solar Farm and BESS does nothing to reduce the World’s emissions. This is because all the Federal and State Net Zero emission goals, Emission Reduction goals and Carbon emission limits on big polluters, are all a waste of money, effort, and will not reduce Global emissions by one iota. The reason is that while Australia’s emissions of Co2 are approximately 1.3% of the World’s emissions at the same time China emits 30% of the World’s emissions and is still growing. Any reduction in Australia’s emissions will be quickly replaced by China’s emissions.
5. The Burroway Solar Farm and BESS is totally reliant on Climate Change subsidies and mandated energy retailer policies, without which it would never be built. Or if the subsidies, etc are removed this Burroway Solar Farm and BESS will be abandoned. Further if the Burroway Solar Farm and BESS cannot afford the cost of building the HV Transmission necessary to connect to the Grid. It is ridiculous for electricity consumers and taxpayers to have to pay for the connecting HV Transmission Lines.
6. Importantly this Burroway Solar Farm and BESS has not made adequate provision for the outbreak of a wildfire from the Solar Farm. Firebreaks are grossly inadequate and fixed water tanks are next to useless. In Victoria CFA fire fighters are refusing to enter Renewable Factories (the NSW RFS is likely to do the same). The risk to surrounding rural residents is frightening.
5. As well the Burroway Solar Farm and BESS has made no financial provision for the dismantling and restoration of the site. Or the cost of the disposal of the toxic, batteries and associated toxic junk.
This is why the Burroway Solar Farm and BESS is not a net contributor to the electricity generation Grid or a viable economic proposition and should never be built.

I object to the solar and battery energy storage installation because it disregards article 11 of the Paris agreement which states are renewable energy expansion should not come at the cost to the essential agricultural land by prioritising energy over. Burroway is rich, grazing and cropping land this project undermines, local food production, which is vital not only for our community, but also for the broader security. 494 ha of prime farmland into industrial site directly against the spirit of sustainability, putting profits and energy generation above the land that sustain us all. This is a violation of our rights to maintain agricultural productivity, proactivity and protect our food supply and it should not be allowed to proceed.

I am writing a further submission to object to the Solar Farm going ahead. The following are my reasons to strongly object:
-Land poisoning by toxic chemicals: Look at the attached screenshot of this Livestock Producer Assurance accreditation application. They recognise and acknowledge that land WILL BE POISONED by solar panels and BESS.
- Destruction of agricultural land to host unreliable and intermittent energy. Land in Narromine is precious and used for the agricultural industry.
- Visual impact. Solar panels are an eyesore and ruin the reasons why we live in this rural town.
- Increased fire risk due to solar panels
- Increased fire risk due to BESS (battery energy storage system)
- Environmental destruction
- Negative community impact
- Mental health impacts on the Narromine rural community
- Negative impact on small local businesses & economy
- Traffic safety issues: increased heavy loads on rural roads. Does the council intend to fix the damage caused to the roads as a result of this project?
-reduced safe places for plane emergencies. Narromine is known for it's aviation facilities. This includes gliding, agricultural work and flight training. Using land for solar panels increases risks in aviation and reduces safe places for aircraft in emergencies.

“I’d hate to see what happens in the capital cities in a similar crisis.”

I strongly object to this development. The destruction of environmental and agricultural land will be devastating.
Solar and wind farms are environmentally destructive, requiring vast amounts of land and disrupting ecosystems, while also posing a significant threat to wildlife like birds. Additionally, their intermittency and high infrastructure costs make them inefficient and unreliable, relying on subsidies that distort the market and burden taxpayers.

How can millions of toxic solar panels and thousands of wind turbines and the 28,000 kilometres of massive transmission towers, transmission lines, substations and exclusion zones that wipe out productive farmlands and pristine bush lands, and then dump them on more productive land at the end of their usefulness, be considered to be good for the environment, in my opinion?
96% of the Earth’s total carbon dioxide emissions comes from Nature. 4% of the Earth’s carbon dioxide emissions from the actions of ALL HUMANS ON EARTH. Of that 4%, humans in Australia are responsible for around 1.3% of that, which equates to approximately 0.00052% of the World’s total carbon dioxide emissions (1.3% of 4% = 0.0052%).
If Australians presently produce approximately 0.00052% of the World’s carbon dioxide emissions why aren’t we counterbalancing that extremely low level by looking after our oceans, seas, waterways, forests, national parks, farmlands, backyard gardens etc., and increasing our irrigation schemes to grow more crops and vegetation because plants in our oceans and on our landscapes are the PERFECT CARBON CAPTURING MACHINES that are true renewables. Not only are they organic, but they produce LIFE SUPPORTING OXYGEN. Most of the Earth’s oxygen is produced in our seas and oceans, so why would you put floating wind turbines in them which can leak toxic hydraulic fluids into them, and will probably be painted with toxic anti fouling paint that can leach into the nearby marine environment?
By using our high quality coal, gas and uranium, (that we seem happy to sell to other countries for them to have cheap reliable power), to generate power using the old transmission lines, instead of building a very expensive new transmission grid, we can have cheap reliable power. By greening more of Australia we can counteract our already low carbon dioxide emissions. CO2 is a natural occurring gas that plants need to grow and produce oxygen.
We need more practical sense in the power debate, in my opinion.
