Burroway Solar Farm

Please see my attached submission.

I object to Edify’s Burroway Solar & BESS plan because:-
* It is destructive to native flora and fauna;
* Construction will leave a legacy of Agricultural land destruction that is unlikely to be rectified by the builder;
* It is an abomination on the natural landscape along;
* It is part of a system that costs billions, does not work reliably and attempts to solve a problem that does not exist, in other words useless and irresponsible use of public funds;
* All such infrastructures should be built at developer’s expense, NOT on public funds.
We are told wind and solar are the cheapest, well prove it, remove all subsidises - do not build this system on public funds;
* The TOTAL cost has not been verified by independent experts, (refer to cost overruns of most projects in NSW);
* There is NO verified scientific basis for reduction of CO2 in the atmosphere so this project is a total waste of public money, along with all other such projects.  There is in fact reliable verifiable scientific proof that CO2 is beneficial to plant life and by extension to human life on earth.

Burroway Solar Plant & BESS will never provide any reliable, affordable power at all as Edify’s useless plan relies on the vagaries of the weather.

When the powers that be realise that we are living in the Nuclear age & wish to remain an advanced country, this unreliable, intermittent, subsidy reliant rip-off will be obsolete & the Narromine district will be unjustly stuck with the environmental vandalism, contamination & huge toxic waste burden Burroway Solar & BESS would cause that the greedy Hosts & Ratepayers will have to clean up.

All of the reasons below. Solar farms are not for prime agricultural land.

- Increased fire risk due to BESS (battery energy storage system)
- Environmental destruction

I object to this project for the following reasons
- Land poisoning by toxic chemicals identified by the Livestock Producer Assurance accreditation application. They recognise and acknowledge that land WILL BE POISONED by solar panels and BESS.
This will affect our livelihood!!

- Destruction of agricultural land to host unreliable and intermittent energy.
- Increased Insurance Costs due to risks for hosts & neighbours
- Visual impact

- Increased fire risk due to solar panels to all in district

- Increased fire risk due to BESS (battery energy storage system)

- Environmental destruction

- Negative community impact

- Mental health impacts on the Narromine rural community

- Negative impact on small local businesses & economy

- Traffic safety issues: increased heavy loads on rural roads

I personally know this location and it is an Inappropriate Location
Noise a big issue
Waterways can be contaminated
Livestock would not be allowed to be sold
due to the legislation
The government is selling all our coal to china and we will be forced to buy solar panels and wind turbines from china we will be relying on China
The government is making a huge mistake but won’t admit it
The Australian Landscape is being destroyed but not the urban cities

The long-term economic costs of this toxic project will increase our electricity prices significantly—a burden that the Australian people should not have to bear. Affordable power is essential for consumers & economic viability of businesses & industry in Australia is paramount.
Subsidising this rubbish is ridiculous!

The long term environmental & economic costs of Edify’s destructive, energy depriving plan are disastrous!
Australian Nuclear Power with minimal environmental impact is the far superior, essential option that benefits Australia instead of making us insecurely reliant on China.

This solar factory is ruining agricultural land for the gain of intermittent unreliable power. It will cause land contamination and is a major fire risk. It is destroying communities, the environment and is a total destruction of the ecosystem. Not to mention the visual impact and noise that will drive the surrounding community to insanity- a major mental health issue!!

I object to Edify’s horrible plan as it would be the establishment of a toxic industry which will entomb our land in contamination, foreclosing any future agricultural activities and undermining our local economy.

Burroway Solar Factory + Filthy BESS on Productive Agricultural Land would be a crime against our rich soil heritage & healthy water supplies which are essential to provide food and sustenance locally, across Australia & globally.

The carcinogens and heavy metals associated with this industry will have devastating, irreversible effects on our land, making it unproductive and unsafe for future generations.

I object to the Contamination of Soil and Water that Burroway Solar + BESS would cause - inevitably leading to contamination of our essential resources.
Our soil and water are vital for agriculture and sustaining our community.
Obnoxious Solar & Big Batteries are Toxic Junk that nobody wants to be cursed with!

This is an objectionable project that nobody wants as the long-term exposure to toxins from Industrialised Solar & hazardous BESS is linked to severe health risks, including cancers, hormonal disruptions, and developmental issues in children.

The Public Health & Safety Risks of Burroway Solar + BESS are disastrous as Edify’s plans are known for toxic waste & health hazards, such as heavy metal leaching and PFAS exposure, which directly threatens the health of the community & all Australians who rely on healthy food & uncontaminated water from the productive Narromine Shire.

I vehemently object to Edify’s plan for a heavy metal leaching and PFAS-producing industry in the Narromine Shire & am deeply concerned about the serious implications this project poses not only to the community’s health and safety but also to our environment and economy.

The Burroway Solar Farm poses severe environmental, agricultural, and socio-economic risks, with significant potential to breach NSW policies on biodiversity, soil conservation, water management, and land use. The conversion of prime farmland, risk to biodiversity, and disruption to Dubbo’s socio-economic landscape collectively make this project unsustainable and inconsistent with NSW’s policy objectives. Without addressing these fundamental concerns, the Burroway Solar Farm cannot proceed without causing substantial, irreversible harm to the Dubbo region.

In light of these issues, this submission strongly recommends that the Burroway Solar Farm be halted unless comprehensive redesigns and mitigations are implemented to align the project with NSW regulatory and sustainability standards.

I strongly object to this project. Only 6% of Australian soils are best suited for food production and they use them because they are already cleared and the soils are soft and easy to bang in the posts. It means more profit for them. When will governments wake up and put a stop to our best food producing land being over run by this blind rush. Look at Broken Hill and Lord Howe Island, the stuff just does not work. They use this term agrisolar as an excuse to soften the decision makers when in fact they do not go together. Our LVA ( paper work for selling livestock) now has a question about animals being grazed in and under these projects. Is it leading to a contamination problem? Think where your food comes from. Look at the photographs of the site it is in the middle of farming country, where your cereals and beans are grown. This company has projects Smoky Creek and Callide solar factories both on prime food producing land in Central Qld and another in Victoria and probably many more. Please put a stop to this project.

I object to the continued loss of valuable productive farm land for inneffecitve intermittent power source with a short period of production. Further, I object to the lack of a plan to dispose of the waste of this plant when it is time to dismantle and dispose of it. Further, I object to the removal of forest land and natural habitat to connect these inefficient power sources to the grid.

This development must be stopped. It is crucial that proper consultation is undertaken with all relevant stakeholders in a transparent fashion. If the community says no, that should be the end of it.
The negative impact on the community and the impact of mental health is huge. No thought or consideration has been given to the mental health impacts on the community and those neighbours of the development. It's unacceptable.
